Plus/Minus Share Contempt Video
If you haven’t delved into Further Afield just yet, might we encourage you to indulge in the entirety of Plus/Minus (+/-) latest opus. While I think the whole of the record is chock-full of incredible moments, “Contempt” certainly feels like something built for the indie masses. It’s got an insatiable groove that hits you almost instantly, then cut up with these jagged guitar licks that rip and recede, all of it merely textured to provide an emotionally charged vocal. Honestly, every moment within this tune fits absolutely perfectly, whether its the gentle vocals or the sharp edged guitar, it all just collides into one perfect pop moment we recommend you take on by grabbing it HERE.

A strange week we had last week; I blame the Memorial Day holiday for that, as it started us all off a bit slow. For whatever reason, we didn’t get a lot of fresh tunes, so I, of course, was out there digging deep to unearth some stuff you’re probably not going to find in a ton of other spots, like the new T.G. Shand or Holding Hour singles. It was good to get another single from the next the Martial Arts LP, plus our old friend Stephen popped up with his new project Shortcuts. And, as I’ve been trying to do more, there were some great records like the new Neutrals and Oh Boland LPs I wanted to nod towards too. It’s all in the playlist below.
This week wasn’t as dominating in terms of brand new singles and what not hitting the site; I’m not sure why there was a lull in single releases. But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t an abundance of great LPs you can enjoy today too. Some even come with brand new videos like
After what felt like a down week, things really took off over here, with another collection of great singles and albums we were stoked to hype up on our end of things. The Austin contingent came strong, with new tunes from Genuine Leather, The Sour Notes, Holiday Music, Letting Up Despite Great Faults and Gus Baldwin/the Sketch. Some long time favorites like Club 8, Nada Surf, and Icarus Phoenix made the cut too! Our pal Michael Maly added some words and photos on Slowdive, so of course we included their classic hit. A lot of great pop stuff too from Sad Eyed Beatniks, Laughing and This Is Lorelei, thus you’ll need to keep your focus when you spend some time below!
