Team ATH agrees on one thing, we all love New Order‘s melding of post-punk grit with synth-driven textures that range from full on dance party to brooding goth. Kilby Block Party offers up a festival lineup that resonates with our vibes. New Order headlining on Thursday is not only a nod to their lasting influence but also a primer for the festivals exploration of jams. Here is a quick preview as we take the show on the road.

Another Day, Another Hit from Ablebody

The Hochheim brothers have honed their chops for quite some time, be it in their own projects or working in PoBPaH, so you know they’ve got the songwriting capabilities to make their latest band, Ablebody, a winner. I love the sound on the newest single, feeling vital to the current musical landscape while taking a lick or two from the darkened club hits of the 80s. Plus, it’s accompanied by a great video that you can check out HERE. The band will be releasing their debut full length, Adult Contemporaries, via Lolipop Records on October 14th.

Meet the Deadline Shakes

For those of you who’ve been following our little site for the last several years, you’re going to immediately hear why I’m really in love with Glasgow’s The Deadline Shakes (aside from their place of residence, of course). Musically, they’ve got a frenetic guitar jangle, but the vocal delivery is what sold me on this act. They deliver a charm in the vein of Literature or PoBPaH, filled in with some perfect backing vocals. Their debut LP Zealots is going to be released in November via Flowers in the Dustbin, so take notice now before it’s too late.
