Brand New Album from Proto Idiot

protoEver since I first heard Proto Idiot via his Trouble In Mind 7″ I’ve been hooked on the sound he’s been creating.  He’s changed things up here and there, but there’s still a very elemental bit of punk rock that comes through your speakers when you press play.  There’s a tinge of garage rock, but things are definitely of the more refined sort; I might even hear a bit of J Reatard in the vocals on this new album, Also Known As.  If you’re looking for something to stream today at work, give yourself a few spins with this release; you’ll be enjoying the next 20 something minutes of your life.

New Music from Proto Idiot

protoidiotThis tune has me so excited I can’t even tell you; I’m nerding out over here.  I first discovered Proto Idiot via his 7″ that he did with the hardworking folks over at Trouble In Mind Records; I even wrote about it on this here site. There’s now a new record out from the act, though no word yet on a physical release date. For those of you that like old school rock n’ roll, then you’re going to want to spend some of your time jamming out to this piece all afternoon…if not longer. It’s called & His Colony Boys, and it’s filled with hits.

You Guys Should Check Out Proto Idiot!

protoI first caught wind of Proto Idiot through the 7 inch Andrew released with Trouble in Mind Records; seems like that release fueled him, with more songs being put up as each month goes by.  For those of you who grew up with punk rock in your veins, I think you’ll really dig the work from this guy.  The songs are pretty simplistic in structure, yet the vocals have  that affected British drawl to it, which makes sense for a guy from the UK.  The tune below comes from Saturday Nights, but do yourself a favor by going back through the whole Proto Idiot catalogue.  I promise you won’t be disappointed.
