Fantastic Purple Spots Announce Spotsylvania Lullabies EP

Things have slowed down a little bit at ATH Records, as dad life is in full bloom, but we were fortunate to begin this year by offering up Fantastic Purple Spots Vibrations Now EP; we decided there’s no better way to end the year than to introduce you to Spotsylvanian Lullabies, the group’s new EP. Opening track “Flowerland” has them jumping into the pastoral version of traditional psychedelia, weaving a marauding bit of guitar sounds around a steadily locked in groove; you have to settle right and just let those fiery riffs echo in your speakers. The second vocal go round has some quieted backing vocals, building in this beautiful texture, letting this groove take on a slight hint at melody as it broods. We’re stoked the band has let us work with them yet again, and we’ll be happy to point you towards Spotsylvanian Lullabies when it drops on December 6th.

Pink Chameleons Share Colors Seem to Fade

Today we get to celebrate the return of Pink Chameleons, led by Paltsa-Kai Salama, who played in ATH faves Black Lizard. The Finnish project relied upon California vibes to craft this song, which you’ll immediately see upon the visuals, but you’ll likely hear in the traditional psychedelia coming through your speakers. It’s as about as true to the original style as it comes, but in that, it feels refreshing, as the genre’s been completely bastardized. There’s also some musical notes run through the talk box that continue to show Salama working through their own process in songwriting. And, its an added bonus because its being released today by our friends at Soliti! Buen proveche!

Marry Cherry Share Colors Single

A little over a year ago we introduced you to new psychedelic bangers Marry Cherry, who gave us a rad video for one of their early singles. This past week, they dropped “Colors,” picking up on those heavy riffs and wailing walls of noise, sonically tying the song into the track’s title as it encourages you to see that wash of ROYGBIV. Although they bring in the headstrong brand of psych, I love how they’re always flirting with proper melody, giving just the faintest hint of pop sensibility to the layered rock n’ roll swagger they’re pushing through the speakers. Drop in to this tune today!

Elephant Stone Share We Cry for Harmonia

Over the last year or so, Elephant Stone has slowly been offering up singles from their new record, Hollow. For me, I think my favorite thing still rings true with their latest work; they seem to nod towards psychedelia (especially considering the sitar gifts of founder Rishi Dhir), but they’ve always had a strong sense of melody. There are light twist and turns in the guitar work here, looking into the current psyche genre, but overall, you get the sense that these songs are crafted with the intention of seducing the listener. They do offer a nice burning jam in the song’s latter half, again paying homage to their pigeonholing. Listening through, you get transported to a new space, which definitely ties into the concept of the album, said to be about humans finding a New Earth after we’ve finished destroying our current home. Hollow is out on February 14th via Fuzz Club.
