TV Colours Finally Get A US Release

tvcLooking for a good rock n’ roll record? Well, you’ll finally be able to get your hands on the great TV Colours album, Purple Skies, Toxic River. The Australian group released this killer LP back in 2013, and there’s a real raw energy in it that just blows out your speakers.  It’s rare when you can find something that harnesses the energy and tenacity of a group on a vinyl format, but I feel like this little gem will win many over.  It hasn’t really been available in the US as of now, but on April 14th, Comedy Minus One will be releasing 500 copies over here, so be on the look out to add this one to your collection.

Sinderlyn Reissue Walter TV and Girls Tears

bandThe label group that began with Captured Tracks has blossomed into this incredible super group of small labels, some of which are focusing on reissuing lost classics.  Today one of those labels, Sinderlyn, announced two great reissues, Walter TV and Girls Tears.  The first single below is from Walter TV; it’s a bouncy post-punk piece with the warbling vocals lurking beneath the main mix; the band is also known for their touring work with Mac Demarco.  I’m also hoping the song’s title, “Master Ludi” is a Herman Hesse reference. Girls Tears is an LA act with more of a frenetic pacing to their punk rock sound.  The albums are titled Appetite (WTV) and Tension (GT), and thanks to Sinderlyn, they’re seeing physical releases for the first time ever on September 23rd!

Rock With This Re-Issue from La Peste

lapesteSlow week? Kick off your afternoon with this really rad tune from La Peste.  The Boston band only released two official songs, and the folks over at Wharf Cat Records have decided they’re great enough to release back into the wild world; boy are they right.  It’s got the perfect amount of snarling guitars pushing the pace, and even including a nice catchy nod to the world that surrounded them, musically.  The reissue will hit the streets on April 19th, and if you’re like me, I have a feeling you’ll want to pick this little gem up.

What’s Your Rupture to Release Any Other City

anyotherIn 2001 Life Without Buildings released Any Other City, and despite the limited available copies for the Glaswegian band, they quickly and quietly reached cult status.  But, like many things, they faded into our memories. That was until yesterday, when the excellent label What’s Your Rupture announced that they’d be re-releasing the heralded record as a special Record Store Day release, on April 19th in case you’re not on the up-and-up.  Just give yourself a little listen to the tune below; you’ll surely realize just why so many people hold this record so dear.

Captured Tracks Reissues More from the Servants

servants-01-720x457One of the great things about the modern technological age is that bands that we once thought were gone, or never even knew about, are beginning to resurface.  A while back I was first introduced to The Servants, and I’ve been on board ever since, though the band is no longer an active group.  They survive through the hard work of Captured Tracks and the label’s continuous efforts to reissue forgotten acts.  The label will be releasing Small Time/Hey Hey We’re the Manques as a double LP on December 3rd, and it couldn’t get here soon enough.  A lot of people make nods to the Go-Betweens, but it’s hard to ignore the group’s evolving role in the early establishment of indiepop, not to mention the heralded C86 tapes.

Great New Reissue from the Tronics

Just in time for Valentines Day, you can pick up this incredible reissue of the Tronics classic Love Backed by Force. Sure, it came out decades ago, but you can definitely throw it right into the current mix, and it would fit right along side bands like Beat Happening or Television Personalities–both solid bands in my book.  The good people over at Whats Your Rupture will be releasing the album February 14th for all you fans of art-pop, and if you’re in love like I am, they’ve also got a sweet shirt from the band’s heyday that you can pick up as well.  Start your day off right with this track.
