The Just Joans Share Limpet Single
A few weeks back, The Just Joans returned with one of my favorite tunes of the year, and yes, I say that with all seriousness and hyperbolic intent. Their new single doesn’t miss either, bringing in that orchestral brand of chamber pop that made us all fawn over the early Belle and Sebastian records. First, you’ll fall in love with the vocal approach, using the male role as the lighter foil in the distance. Second, the stomp and spin of the piano is perfectly situated to give you a bit of a spiritual bump. And lastly, you’ll walk away adoring the final verse or lyrical delivery, as that closing 45 seconds just grew a smile on my grumpy old face.
