Friday Album Streams: Gus Baldwin, Pink Chameleons, and More

The year is in full swing, and there are tons of great albums already hitting the streets, so wanted to throw my weight behind a few great releases. We’re all over the world today, with one of my favorite Austin artists, Gus Baldwin and the Sketch, getting their new LP out there. Then we bounce over to Finland with our friends Soliti releasing a new Pink Chameleons album. Jump over to Australia with Shrapnel then come home to NYC with Rosa Bordallo. Got those streams below for you.

Shrapnel Share Bugged Anatomy

Percussion enthusiasts Shrapnel continue to explore their sound on the new Sedan Crater LP. They had a bit of a direct nod to some jangling pop from the Oceanic region on their first single, but this go round, they’ve dropped a kind of slow-burning cruncher. Guitars dance faintly while the front of the mix seems to almost have an off-kilter plod to it, turning carefully into the intoxicating jig from the guitars between verses. And, just as you’ve become accustomed to their approach here, they break it all down with impending musical doom raining upon the listeners. Sedan Crater is out on January 31st via Tenth Court.

Shrapnel Announce Sedan Crater + Share New Video

When Shrapneldropped their 2021 LP Alasitas, it got a lot of coverage (and plays) on our end of things over here, so when an email came in with a fresh single and an album announce, I was ready to share…and here we are. This new jam jumps right on, twisting jangling guitars into hook-laden distortion machines wielding pop sensationalism for the masses. As the energy ebbs and flows, you can see the band working on their own axe wielding tricks, playing with organized robotics that strike the emphatic notes in all the right spots. They’ll be releasing Sedan Crater on January 31st via Tenth Court, and we’ll keep you posted as more singles pop out!
