Last Week’s Jams (7.29 – 8.2)

Pretty sure our coverage crushed it this last week; I think there was one day where we covered ten songs in a single day! But, I’m about to end my summer break, so don’t expect that too much more. Alas, we had album shout outs for Blood, Male Gays, Aaberg, True Optimist and Teenage Tom Petties. Some of my favorite acts returned to the fold, like the Smashing Times and Pop FilterYoung Scum had a new jam, but it’s not streaming yet. Big hits from Chimers, The Gabys and the Softies kept us busy…and always nice to have a Chime School tune too! Enjoy the streams of last week’s jams!

Share Bring Out Another Single

It’s Monday, and you need vibes, and this new Share single definitely has a solid vibe groove to lift you into the rest of the week. While the backbone of the song is this meandering little folk stream, the vocals that come in the verse hang with just a bit of a rough edge, scratching at the edges of the day and dragging us out our doldrums. When that chorus hits, it gets contrasted, as the guitar lines bend waywardly and the melodic nature of the vocals just pop a little ray of sunshine into your bedroom…and the second chorus gets a nice fuzzy boost to help the song cruise into a slightly heavier territory that surely gets under your skin. Share will released Have One on August 9th via Forged Artifacts.

Last Week’s Jams (6.3 – 6.7)

Pretty heavy week we had over on the ATH here. The Bay Area and Austin area had some great tunes to offer us, such as new stuff from Sad Eyed Beatniks and Holy Wire, or perhaps Swiftumz and Letting Up Despite Great Faults. We also got to preview some great shows like Adrianne Lenker and The Umbrellas (that was a blast btw!). Plus, Cursive return after a few years off, so of course the site’s emo contingent was keeping you up to date there. Then there were Nathan faves like Icarus Phoenix, Quivers and Azure Blue, all of whom offered us up new tunes. Tons to enjoy below.

Share Announce Debut LP

If you’ve got a band featuring current and former members of acts like Jay Som, Half Stack and Fake Fruit, then folks better take notice, as that pedigree is a guaranteed hit parade…which is the case with Share. That said, the sum of all their parts feels rather fresh, like if you were to find a modern power pop band delving into the Replacements back catalog. There’s attitude and earnestness in the vocals, but you’ll also find a special moment lurking around the 1:50 mark, where voices collide and the track settles into a sense of wonderment before jamming right back into that fun swagger. They’ll be releasing their debut LP, Have One, on August 9th via the esteemed Forged Artifacts.
