New Tunes from Love Sport

lovesportI feel like you deserve this Love Sport track today, that’s if you dig great guitar jams. I can hear the slightest hint of Guided by Voices in some of the vocal notes, though they bring in a bit more angst during the chorus. Still, the emotional bounce in the verses actually has a rather uplifting affect…it hits hard with just enough melody to make the world a brighter place. Indulge yourself in a band that aims to bring you Dull Tracks (they’re anything but) once the new year breaks via Soliti. It’s a steady dosage of feel good throughout, so why wait, indulge yourself now.

Delay Trees Cover Cats on Fire

delay_trees_promokuva_02_2016I’m generally not one to buy into covers and what not, but here Soliti have put two of my favorite acts together: Delay Trees covering Cats on Fire. I love the fact that Delay Trees have been able to add a layer of brightness to the original, simply with a warmer vocal tone. It’s wonderful to hear band’s you adore cover their friends, all perfectly complimenting one another. This cover is featured on Soliti’s celebration of running the label for 5 years with their My Brain Hurts A Lot Comp, which features the label’s acts covering their labelmates. Enjoy your day folks.

Black Lizard Covers Cats of Transnistria

soliti5years_cover_bigSoliti Records is one of my favorite labels I’ve been able to befriend through running this site, and the label is celebrating five years as a label by releasing a combination wherein the band’s on the label cover other releases. For me, the highlight, at least from what I’ve heard is this great little cover of “Good Night” by Black Lizard (the original is from Cats of Transnistria). It holds onto the original’s soft beauty, but fills it out with a little more fuzzy distortion…leaving you with good things. The Soliti Five Years: My Brain Hurts A Lot Comp will come out on November 25th.

Brand New Delay Trees Brings Power Pop

Soliti Music in Finland always passes on the best hits to us from overseas, but I had no idea they had this beautiful new Delay Trees tune in wait. The group are readying their album Let Go for everyone, so why not give the world this track. It’s as if they were telling all the fans of soft power-pop, akin to Nada Surf, that all your dreams and wishes would be fulfilled. The melody here is spectacular, and the subdued vocals fit into the churning guitars in such a way that they seem to swirl inside your head. We’ll keep you posted on the release, but in the meantime, lose yourself in this delectable hump day treat.

Sunny Vibes from Paltsa Kai Salama

paltsaWe’re always getting great tips from the Finnish music scene via our friends over at Soliti Music, and today they’ve just announced a new album from Paltsa-Kai Salama. You’d probably be okay to call this a sunny bit of classic-pop, but the filler behind the core of the song really adds these layered accents that elevate the track. I’m a big fan of the way the vocals come across just after the two minute mark, right before that sax grooves its way into your heart. His new album, Night at the Beach, will be released worldwide on October 28th.

Stream Endless Summer from Big Wave Riders

bigwaveIf you’ve been riding along on our site, you surely know that I’m greatly anticipating the forthcoming Big Wave Riders album, Endless Summer. And wouldn’t you know it, we’ve got it streaming below for your enjoyment. I love the maturity the band have show, hitting various touchstones that I adore, particularly in the realm of great guitar pop like “Crest of a Wave” or upbeat pop numbers like “Flipping the Bird.” You’ll even hear some fuzzier psych influenced tracks lurking around, so music nerds will get a little bit of it all from this album. It’s soaked in an essence of cool, begging for you to get hip to the Finnish band’s sound. Grab it from Soliti on Friday!

Stream More Escher and Random Notes from The Holy

theholyWe’ve dropped a few tunes from the debut for Finland’s the Holy over the last month or so. The most impressive thing about listening to the entirety of More Escher and Random Notes is just how polished the band seem to have grown into during these, the early years. You can hear bits of Arcade Fire and Coldplay, blending orchestration and noise with massive hints of pop sensibility. Soliti Music will be releasing the EP next week, August 10th, worldwide, but you can stream it below just to make sure you loved it as much as we do.

More New Music from The Holy

theholyNot too long ago we brought you a great track from The Holy, one of the recent signings from our friends over at Soliti in Finland. Today we’re back to offer you a glimpse at the band’s brand of orchestrated indie rock. This number seemingly rushes forward to the drum work, but the element of strings and vocals steady the song just a bit. Still, synth stabs and the accompanying video for the single express nothing but pure exuberance…reminding you to just let yourself go. The label will release the band’s new EP, Escher and Random Notes at the beginning of August.

Pleased to Meet You: Sonic Visions

Remember last week when the Stone Roses released a brand new song, and then you thought to yourself “my five year old niece can write these lyrics.” Well, then take a listen to Sonic Visions, the newest band to join the Soliti Roster over in Finland. Their brand new video offers a dark perspective on the band, but we should focus on the fact that they definitely seem a band looking back at late 80s/early 90s UK sounds, while adding a modern bit of flare. I’ve played this track multiple times, and it definitely fills the void left floating out next week. This is their first piece for the label, but expect more from them in 2016.

Fresh Dream Pop from Mumrunner

mumrunnerYou’ve got to root for a band like Mumrunner, breaking out of the incredible, yet small, Finnish scene with their last EP. They return today with a great new song, bringing their A game. Those of the dream pop world will surely recognize the way the guitar knifes and dances around the track, creating an atmospheric realm for the listener to sit inside. Personally, I love how the group has a lot of restraint in the traditional sense of verse/chorus, instead letting their musicianship be on display throughout the track. Soliti will release this track later in the year on a new EP from the band.
