Cootie Catcher Share Quarter Note Rock

Looks like I’m treating myself today, with lots of good indiepop delights on the menu…and now there’s another new single from the forthcoming Cootie Catcher LP! I love the band’s mixture of sounds and influences, which are particularly apparent on this jam; they can blast you with infectious indiepoop or, like they do here, they can pull it back and just let their idiosyncracies blossom into something new. Their usage of electronic little elements lurking behind the ringing guitars feels like something you would’ve gotten from a number of collective pop groups in the early 00s; I tend to think of an indiepop version of Architecture in Helisinki…and neither group was/is bound by rules. Something We All Got is out on Friday via Carpark Records.

Cootie Catcher has given us their refined brand of indiepop with spirited single after spirited single, but today’s offering gives a look at the group’s ability to mix it up on their forthcoming LP, Something We All Got. Nolan takes on the lead vocal role this go round, but it’s more about the calmed approach to the verses that sets the tune up for success. In a sense, the tune’s themes of being non-confrontational shine through the songwriting, though the group is sure to bring it all back to their pop purveyance in the chorus, as they never stray to far from offering joy to the listener. Carpark Records will release the new LP on February 27th!

One of the many albums on our radar for next year is the new long-player from Cootie Catcher; the group have been on our pages countless times before, but they seem to be building towards huge buzz in 2026. Their brand new single finds the group locking into the modern guitar pop boldness; they feel like they’re playing in the same territory as the most recent Beths record. For a band that employs all sort of playful harmonies, this track is all about the driving guitars and smattering of drums, creating this noisy pop rock sensation that should make you rush to pre-order the LP. Such a great song, and we’re thinking that Something We All Got is going to be equally as great, so pick it up from Carpark Records.
