Emma Russack Returns with Be Real
I love starting off Mondays with tunes you that really get you excited to jump into the week, which is almost always the case when I get new Emma Russack tunes. There are two really incredible things that I love about this track; I love the storytelling aspect of Emma’s lyrics and I love the way the song seemingly builds with little to no release. Her first-person approach has this matter-of-fact manner that really drives home the story. Musically, each little bit seems to continuously rise in volume…first its guitar and voice, then emphatic drums, slowly, slowly building. It’d be easy to unleash anywhere in that process, but she holds back, almost toying with the listener, inevitably sucking you into the track. Winter Blues will be released on July 5th by Osborne Again!

It’s just one of those nights where you could practically walk downtown, fall over and land at a really incredible show. I’ve got my own eyes set on bouncing around to a few, but let’s see if we can’t point you in the proper direction…I gave you some hints, but you can also catch Hootie and the Blowfish if that’s your prerogative.
