New EP from Snowy and Lachlan
Snowy and Lachlan are both members from the Ocean Party, so we’re inclined to share any new project the two work on, even if it’s a boy-band pop group. This weekend, they kindly shared a new EP they worked on together, simply titled Six More Songs. At first, I was stuck with this tune “Drunk” on repeat; I love its pop explosion just before the 1 minute mark. But, as it’s Monday, and we need a pick me up, I’ve been trolling “Do What U Wanna” the most; it’s an upbeat track built on a keyboard backbone, playful in vibe and lyrics. Still, don’t stop there, as I wouldn’t post these songs if I didn’t find them rewarding, so go on, get at em.

Not sure why no one alerted me to this, but hot damn if this Terry vs Tori EP from back in January isn’t just the perfect midweek snack. The Spanish four piece sort of plays all over the indiepop map; “Larusso” seems like something every band’s been trying to capture, jangling and melodic; it’s followed behind by “Parallel Lines,” which brings in more of a dreamy element into the fold. All these things are great, and I just wish I knew about the band beforehand, as I feel like I’ve been missing out on quality listening time. Grab the remaining copies from 
Estonia is probably the last place you think of when the topic of dreampop/shoegaze emerges. But, the country boasts Pia Fraus, although before that, they were part of Bizarre. Our first experience with the group, and for many of you, is this subdued number, dominated by the perfect blend of male/female vocal parts. The background fills with guitar chords wandering through the landscape of simple percussive rhythms; it crafts this beautiful realm where you’re free to completely lose yourself in the melody of the track. It’s impressive to see that these recordings were out there in the late 90s, clearly a precursor to a lot of the current vibes going about. Necro will be released on June 4th via Seksound/Darla.
