Last Week’s Jams (7.21 – 7.25)
My summer vacation is about to wrap up, so I’ve been trying to cram as much rock n’ roll into the site as I can, and I feel like nearing 30 new songs is a pretty solid outing. There was new stuff from ever-present acts like Gregor, Cate Le Bon, Giant Day and more. Plus, there were some brand newish acts popping up on the scene that I think are certainly worth everyone’s time: The Cords and the Cindys, both UK outfits oddly enough. Some ATX love for Stella and the Very Messed and the Wild Kindness both dropping new tunes. Plus, there are several slow burns that will space out the listen, so you’ve got almost two hours of last week’s jams to enjoy!

It was a shortened work, so we crammed in a good 20 tracks to get you covered in the newest and coolest from “the underground.” Really loved some of the stuff coming out of the West Coast, like new Galore and The Wind-Ups; Texas had some decent representation too, with new Teethe, The Stayres, Alien Eyelid and Nuclear Daisies tunes making their way onto the playlist. Old favorites Quality Used Cars and the Radio Field made solid returns, and I found myself super stoked to have stumbled upon Madrone (whom you should all check out immediately). Dig in and see if there’s something rad you love…and if so let us know!
Going to be a bit of an off week, as RayRay is out on vacation, and I head out on the latter half of the week, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t crush it last week. I was finally able to let the cat out of the bag about new music from Heavenly/Swansea Sound; RayRay dropped the premiere for new ATX powerhouse, Porcelain. Oh, and B. Gray was coming through with sick photo work from Kilby Block Party and OMD, so we’re really just trying to make your musical world better. There’s a bunch of sweet jams, though I’ll admit I’m really loving the Slow Summits new tune, as well as the cover by Glass Spells. Stream below and feel free to comment on what you loved and what we missed!
Last week was a rather busy one on our end, and I remember Wednesday giving me headaches in terms of what all we could cover. Alas, we had to start this week’s jams coverage off with the latest from Allo Darlin‘, who announced their first LP in some time. There was definitely some post-punk vibes cooking with acts like Artificial Go and Teethe dropping super cool new tunes that I couldn’t stop playing around our little house in the burbs. Had some old regulars pop up too, like Strawberry Whiplash and Welcome Strawberry; it was a strawberry themed week I supposed. You’ll also find some super cool oddball tunes too from the likes of Kilynn Lunsford and Vov Vov! Get it all below:
Been a minute since we heard new music from Texas outfit
Going back through last week, one release I think I’d like on your radar is the new self-titled LP from Dallas band
