Last Week’s Jams (7.29 – 8.2)

Pretty sure our coverage crushed it this last week; I think there was one day where we covered ten songs in a single day! But, I’m about to end my summer break, so don’t expect that too much more. Alas, we had album shout outs for Blood, Male Gays, Aaberg, True Optimist and Teenage Tom Petties. Some of my favorite acts returned to the fold, like the Smashing Times and Pop FilterYoung Scum had a new jam, but it’s not streaming yet. Big hits from Chimers, The Gabys and the Softies kept us busy…and always nice to have a Chime School tune too! Enjoy the streams of last week’s jams!

The Gaby’s Announce New 7″ EP

If you run in the cool-kid indie circle, mention of the Gabys yesterday was all over everyone’s timeline, rejoicing in the news that there was a fresh EP on the way. We’ve only got this one track to go off, but it sees them dwelling in that brilliantly mellowed pop realm. There’s a lonesome quality to the guitar lines, trickling and bending ever-so gently, almost weary as they lay down before the vocals. Those vocal notes are pretty near perfect, rising just beneath the ride of the cymbals to offer a calmed resolve that’ll certainly have your pop ears ready for the release of their new 7″; it drops via Fruits and Flowers on August 23rd.
