Iceblynk Share Debut Single, Tragic

The opening moment of the debut Iceblynk single grabbed me immediately; it teased me as if I was going to fall head over heels into the land of dense post-punk with wee little jangles. But, the song sort of evolves into something more spiritual, just on the cusp of dreaminess. When Andrea Lynn’s vocals hit, it sort of sets the song spinning differently; she’s got these sharp tones that seem to contrast with the vibe, but their ethereal nature ends up punctuating the bits and pieces that bring the song together. The song’s fade out really ups the ante too, so be sure to dive into the drama. The band will release their self-titled debut EP on October 21st!

Stream Infinity Rock N Roll from Jack Lee

Jack Lee might be better known in the US as the frontman for Beef Jerk, who released the excellent (and slightly overlooked) Tragic on Trouble in Mind Records. But, he’s got several solo efforts under his belt, with the latest being released today via Beko Disques. Right now, I’m really enjoying the diversity of the listen, taking on several styles, kicking out varying moods. Personally, I’ve gravitated towards “What You Don’t Do” as my favorite, like a weird world where Dan Treacy tries to take on modern casual pop. Oh, and I’d kick myself if I didn’t throw out the name Stephanie Ohlback; she’s serves as the vocal foil to Lee on almost every song, but perfectly shines on her own on “Taps Aff” and “Pieces.” And there I go, changing my mind on what my favorite hit from this LP is. You should just stream Infinity Rock N’ Roll and figure it out for yourself!

Meet Beef Jerk…the Newest from Trouble in Mind

8574_10152135614239724_1253391926_nIf you pay attention to our little site here, it should come as no surprise that we follow the work of Trouble in Mind Records pretty closely; I always rave about their bands. They just announced that they’ll be working with Beef Jerk, an act from Sydney. While the sound has a similar ringing to that of their country’s comrades, they’ve got a bit more energy in their riffs, letting the guitar hit hard while the vocals sit back behind in the mix. The band doesn’t slow down, they push the pace, push the listener, all the way until the abrupt end of the track. It’s a great introduction to an act on one of our favorite labels. You can pre-order the TragicHERE, or pick it up at your local shop on July 8th.
