Watch the New Omni Video

Another week, another great song being released by Trouble in Mind Records, but this time the band is Omni. They’ve got a new album titled Deluxe coming out in July on the label, and I think it’s one one of those really special musical pieces…at least for those of that grew up listening to a lot of punk. It seems to take all the genres of punk, and the after-punk years (glam, no wave, post, proto) and combine them to create an amalgam of great sounds. Watch their video for the new track below, and be ready for the official release come July 8th.

Check the New Ciggie Witch Video

Just a few weeks ago, we got the great new Ciggie Witch track up for you, ahead of the rest of our US counterparts, and now we’re at it again, bringing you the band’s new video for “Walking the Tracks.” This song is spliced up with bits from the class movie Twister (which is perfect for the weather in Texas right now). You’ll find this song on the band’s new album, Classic Connection, so enjoy watching the video, and grab the LP from Osborne Again Music on June 3rd.

Video Premiere: Summer Salt

It’s been a pretty special year for Summer Salt, booking a couple of great tours and releasing their Going Native EP recently with us here at ATH Records. They just tossed us us this great video for the track, “Summer Salt,” and the video encompasses everything I love about the band, aside from the fact that it’s just a hands-down, great song. This three-o are all about crafting really incredible melodies, but they’re also about enjoying themselves. You can see their tight-knit attitude in the video, yet it also shows they’re goofy side. They’re out there playing the songs they love, willing to have fun with each other in a style that’s endearing to all. If you haven’t gotten into the band yet…well, what are you waiting for? Still a few copies of their Going Native EP available HERE.

And, if you’re in the Austin area, they have an incredible show with some of our other faves, Growl and Flesh Lights. Read more on it HERE.

Pleased to Meet You: Sonic Visions

Remember last week when the Stone Roses released a brand new song, and then you thought to yourself “my five year old niece can write these lyrics.” Well, then take a listen to Sonic Visions, the newest band to join the Soliti Roster over in Finland. Their brand new video offers a dark perspective on the band, but we should focus on the fact that they definitely seem a band looking back at late 80s/early 90s UK sounds, while adding a modern bit of flare. I’ve played this track multiple times, and it definitely fills the void left floating out next week. This is their first piece for the label, but expect more from them in 2016.

Brand New Spook School

You know The Spook Schoolis one of my favorite bands of the moment. I quietly (or not so) tracked the band all around town during SXSW, even throwing a couple of shows together, just so they’d have a happy home. Well, news breaks today that the band have a brand new couple of songs appearing on the Continental Drift Compilation via Slumberland and Fortuna Pop. They’re debuting it via video, which is perfect, as you can clearly sense the band’s enjoyment/humor coming through in the clips; it’s one of the things that also makes them such a special live band. Look for the compilation in August…but for now, just relish in the fact that great pop bands still exist. Also, sorry for the over-abundance of FPop stuff today, but when you got it, you got it.

Pleased to Meet You: The Holy

You know I’ve always got an eye on what’s going on over in Finland, particularly when it comes to the great label, Soliti. This week, news broke that the label was working with a new act, The Holy. I hadn’t heard anything from the group, or even anything about them really, until this video surfaced. It’s a band crafting a sound that I think sounds wholly unique; you’ll electronic elements, lofty vocal range, but also similarities to acts like Arcade Fire or U2 (when they were decent). Plus, they’ve created a captivating video, which, is more than a lot of “videos” that come our way. The single is officially released next week (5.3), but let’s expect a striking album in the future.

Omni Announce Album

12771533_1562000567425520_4341617722041657471_oThere have been whispers of Omni signing to Trouble in Mind Records, and man, this one lives up to all my expectations. It’s definitely not your run-of-the-mill tune, hitting hard instantly, frenetically blasting through in less than two minutes. It sounds old-school, but in that, it also sounds refreshing, not being weighed down by any of the modern textures. This is pure angular punk of the pop sort, the type that excites anyone listening. Deluxe will be out on July 8th, so be ready for something really exciting.

Check the New Troller Video

holodeckI won’t lie to you; I completely should have been on the ball giving more love to Troller. Their one of the great bands in Holodeck‘s stable, bringing some of the most interesting electronic music in town to the masses. Troller just released Graphic, which is a darkened collection of lush synth-pop tracks, including this standout, “Storm Maker.” The video matches the feeling of the song, unfolding various images as the vocals dance around in the atmosphere. If you’re smart, you’ll get your hands on the LP right away.

Real Deal Lo-Fi from Frozy

frozeYesterday I went on a big giant spin listening to Frozy, and their album from last year on Odd Box Records. What set me off? The video below! Not only is the song perfect, and the real deal when it comes to lo-fidelity, but it works in direct contrast with the video. Yet, when watching, it all works together so magnificently. I don’t really know how much more I can love this band right now, but all Iknow at this point is that this track will come out on a release some time in the future (hopefully later this year). Anyways…these guys aren’t lo-fi pretenders, which makes them all the better…that and the song kills.

Lost Tapes Release New Video

12742816_1027405533983391_6617029569881673984_nBeen spending a lot of time listening to the dreamy pop sounds of Lost Tapes over the last few weeks. They just got up their debut album, Let’s Get Lost; it’s an understated bit of dreamy electro pop. I like the imagery of the video, especially the fact that it’s shot in black and white. It seems to fit well with the song, as the vocals are resting just behind the mix, at least in my ears. If the song strikes you, you’ll love listening to the record…relaxing and thoughtful, but filled with emotion.
