Bobsled Team Share Waiting for You + Drop New Album

Over the years I’ve mentioned Belfast’s Bobsled Team quite frequently, and today we can rejoice as they’re sharing a new single in honor of release day for their new LP. This tune’s indicative of the breathing you can do amidst the whole of their record, as you can tell they didn’t rush to fill every crevice with noise and guitars, instead letting the melody float carefully. You’ll hear bending guitar notes working on a pounding drum beat, every musical note spent to accent the vocal pieces. Don’t get me wrong, as All the Flowers Bloom certainly has moments of energy like “Analita” or “Time Goes By,” but they definitely seem more thoughtful with their craft, and you’ll be the beneficiary. Synth pop from Masculine Pain

I want to be forthright and acknowledge that we’ve put out records by 2/3 of Masculine Pain (Big Bill/Literature/Tres Oui). That said, this trio has their pulse on their own brand of synth pop, crafting these seductive, nostalgic beats that are easily digestible, but primed for repeat plays. The band excels in the way they’ve layered the vocals throughout this tune; I think Eric’s voice is the perfect foil for Nate’s sweeping pop tendencies, particularly when they get into chorus mode…don’t be afraid to admit you’re swooning here. As of now, the band are just leaking out singles, so we’ll keep you posted if we hear anything else.

Stuck on This Hurry Tune

There’s something so pure about the perfectly executed pop ditty that I find it hard to turn such tracks off, just like the Hurry tune below. There’s nothing heavy about it, and in fact, it seems the volume on distortion is perfectly balanced by the usage of acoustic guitar. Cascading guitar lines work their way throughout, cut in half by these rad little vocal harmonies; it’s like listening the greatness of Nada Surf being played with a youthful vibrance. The band’s new album, Every Little Thought, will be released on February 23rd via Lame-O Records.
