Washing Machina Drop The Top Single

Ya’ll clearly know of my love and adoration for all things Swedish, and this new track from Washing Machina is another tune that has caught my ear. Now, if you’re washing this cinematic version, there’s nearly 3 minutes of story-telling, so if you need to get right to it, fast-forward to about 2:54. Once the track opens, it felt a bit like a slowed version of the brand of indie rock that Stellastarr* was pumping out in the 00s; there’s hints of nostalgic new wave built around an infectious bass groove, with the guitars doing their best to make you throw your heels up in dance. One of my favorite parts though is how the vocals are intertwined, wound around one another in a fashion that creates its own unique sound. If you’re digging it, the group will be putting out Before My Mind Wakes Up this May via Epicuro.

Last Week’s Jams (9.22. 9.26)

It was a hectic week on my end, and RayRay up and left town (to travel to Detroit!), so I snuck in a bunch of gems I think you’ll really enjoy, all of them presented in a little playlist for your pleasure. I was stoked to see our friends in Pop Filter back with a new album and single, so be sure to listen to “Dirt Road Anthem.” Also in the unexpected great news realm, Tony Molina has a new LP on the way, and well, we’ve opted to include all 3 of the singles he released, as there’s never a bad time for Tony! We got UK stuff too, with new Pynch, Adults and Teenage Tom Petties, so that’s at least three continents represented in this 20 track collection for you all!

Washing Machina Drop Debbie Lost Her Mind Video

If you’re looking for a little bit of an indie rock classic, then might we suggest trying out this brand new tune from Sweden’s Washing Machina. The group have just released this brand new single, and to my ears, it kind of takes the softer edge of what Superchunk have been doing; there’s more melody, as one would expect from a Swedish group, offering up more of a pop sentimentality. In terms of the subject matter, the band are discussing everyone’s best friend, the person who pushes themselves to the limits, fun at first and a disaster in the end…don’t be a Debbie (note to self).

Last Week’s Jams (1.23 – 1.27)

We’d like to formally apologize for some outages last week. One was our old server, the other was the process of switching 15 years (!) of writing and such over to a new server. But, we definitely still ran a ton of tunes, you just might not have been able to hear them all! So, let’s rectify that with our weekly playlist. Ran a premiere for a fresh track from Animal Scream off their new LP, plus we were excited by another new Whitney’s Playground track. Personally, I liked the babybaby_explores single a ton, despite that name driving me nuts. RayRay ran a Bratty tune to get you excited for the return of Austin Psych Fest. Plus, I had to throw in a Tom Verlaine track, as it just feels right; RIP sir.

Washing Machina Drop New EP

Friday’s are always a great way to go and spend time listening to fresh new tunes, so might I suggest the heavy pop vibes from Sweden’s Washing Machina. Today marks the release of Last Bag on the Belt, but let’s focus on my favorite tune that’s ripping through your stereo below. Honestly, it feels like two songs, carefully woven together to create one uber banger. In one hand, you get this driving rhythm and smashing distortion; it’s the noise that will echo through your house as you turn this up. Dig deeper and there’s this inner core that seems sated in melody, careful not to push too far so as to let you taste the good bits as your neighbors scream at you to turn it down.
