New Song from Diles Que No Me Maten

One of the disappointments of missing the last day of Levitation this year was that I didn’t get to see Diles Que No Me Maten, the Mexico City outfit who have just dropped this single from Mexican Summer‘s Sitting on the Moon compilation. There’s this sort of journeyman storytelling to their style here, accompanied by this subtle meandering of guitar notes and light percussion. They’ve incorporated some imagery from DF, celebrating the beauty of the city, tying it to the majesty of their songwriting. Totally enamored with their songwriting and storytelling; they’ll be hitting a brief tour on the West Coast, starting tomorrow.

Elephant Stone Scores Psych Rock Winner

elephantstoneI’ve got several Elephant Stone albums hanging around in my iTunes, so when a new track comes across my desk, I’m destined to post it. For my two cents, I think the band have expanded their sound here, adding a synthesized touch to their classic psych rock sound. This track gets a further boost for us Austin folks as it features Alex Maas from Black Angels, and again, it adds another layer to the band’s well-crafted sound. As of right now, this is just a one-off single, but as the band embarks on a short WestCoast tour, we can be assured that more is soon on the way…or so I hope.

Austin Spotlight: Brand New Grape St. Track!!!

10606255_811918515519334_6116597443649835805_nAs you know, we’ve long been supporters of Grape St., the band fronted by Curtis O’Mara of Harlem.  We love them so much we put out their first LP, A Date With You.  But, like all good things, they must come to an end, which is why the band is moving up to release their next LP with the folks over at Burger Records.  If you’ve watched the band live, you’ve probably heard “Wallpaper;” it’s been a huge staple in their live sets.  They’re going to be taking that live set to the West Coast in a few weeks, bringing with them a tour only cassette with the below tune; it’ll also be featured on their next LP, which is slated for a release later in the year.  Come on, this tune’s just so good. Jam it loud.
