Red Pants Announce New EP + Share Century Phaser

For starters, you should all put your playlists on pause and go spend a little bit of time with Red Pants last album, When We Were Dancing; it came out this past Winter, and I raved and raved, as I do about such things. But, we’re all lucky because the duo has announced the Gentle Centuries EP, which is coming out in just a bit. This tune’s super rad if you love electronic production being woven in to some rhythmic jam sessions, but it’s not all about that intoxicating mixture, as the vocals have this futuristic feel to them that guarantees us that this is the music of our future. If you’re looking to disappear into a song, I can’t imagine a better one, so crawl inside the depths of Red Pants. The new EP will be out via Painted Blonde Tapes.

Red Pants Share Video for All Your Pink Stars

I’ve been praising the latest LP from Red Pants, When We Were Dancing, which just recently dropped via Paisley Shirt Records. Today, we’re stoked to share the new Jem Famvu directed video; the video features a young driver enjoying themselves, spliced with scenery footage of everytown America. Musically, this tune is spot-on for the various reasons to love the record. For starters, you’ve got this light jangling guitar line, bouncing with a little jittery percussion riding out in the background. Jason Lambeth’s voice comes in like a cool whisper, maybe even a little distant, with both pieces setting up to deliver this chorus buzzing with a distorted guitar and the joyous “ba ba ba” that encourage your favorite sing-along moments. In the end, both you and the driver of the car are having the time of your lives, as it should be. Grab the album HERE.

Cool Album Streams: Red Pants + Die! Die! Die!

There’s tons of new stuff out today, but here’s a couple that I’d like to put up on your radar, in hopes that you’ll find some joy off the beaten path of the hot releases out there.

First up is the new album from Red Pants, When We Were Dancing. It’s like this fuzzy little lo-fi blanket that you want to bundle up in as you sit before a fire on a chilly star-lit night. The LP is out courtesy of Paisley Shirt Records.

Second, New Zealand’s Die! Die! Die! have released their punishing noise-core record, This Is Not an Island Anymore. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of that one Refused record everyone loves, post-hardcore mantras and angular riffs that you can hear ripping your speakers.

Red Pants Ready When We Were Dancing

We’re about a week away from the release of Red Pants‘ new long-player, so seems a fitting Friday to slide in and visit a couple of the tunes they’ve got headed your way. On the opening tune of the record you’ll find this heavy guitar vibe, almost something out of the early 90s post-hardcore scene, but the vocals contrast that, creating a softer underbelly that releases the pop-centric vibe. Later down the album you end in the quick banger, “Another Haircut,” which is like a rambunctious roll in the hay, with my only complaint being its quick end! Two great tracks to whet your appetite before When We Were Dancing drops next week via Paisley Shirt Records.
