Fuvk Drop New Album
Those who’ve been carefully keeping an eye on the Austin music scene will already be aware of the talented of Fuvk, the work of Shirley Zhu. I’ve really enjoyed the 10 tracks on this release, with a lot of them featuring duets of sorts, blending in Zhu’s bedroom pop with other nuanced acts, like the pop meets hip-hop touches of “Take Me Back” that opens the album. Folks will likely gravitate towards “Wishful Thinking,” as it jumps out as a single perfectly aligned with modern indie rock, with a nice little sample breakdown lurking behind Shirley’s guitar work. Imaginary Deadlines is out now via Z Tapes Records.

We started off our 2019 with our friends and their small labels, learning about what makes them tick, what success they had…and most of all, who are they outside the label. We continue that today with a few more friends, and we will let you stop on in and see what they had to say. Today features Z Tapes, Crafted Sounds, Citrus City and Father/Daughter Records.
