The Austin City Limits website has announced a whole bunch of new after shows. The Black Keys, Manu Chao, Okkervil River, and several other big names have dates up for post festival parties. If you check out the C3 website, they are currently offering an exclusive pre-sale to all of these shows.
ATH finally found an excuse to post about one of our favorite Austin acts Okkervil River. We have an mp3 of the band posted for you below called “Lost Coastlines” which is set to appear on the band’s latest The Stand Ins due out September 9th. “Lost Coastlines” features your last chance at Jonathan Meiburg in Okkervil, as he now fronts another Austin heavy hitter Shearwater. Why would we be posting about SDR, a band that’s been dead since the late 90’s you say? Well, we recently saw that the MTV Subterranean blog posted a video from 1994 of a live in studio performance from the band. The in studio is a 3 song set with great sound and even better video quality. Not familiar with Sunny Day Real Estate, one of the first emo bands? The Rosebuds have 4 new songs you can check out on their myspace page. Each of the 4 songs are set to appear on the bands forthcoming album Life Like out Oct. 9th. The Title track “Life Like” from the Rosebuds is available for download/stream below.

This summer I went back in time and rediscovered classic reggae, and by that, I mean the stuff that goes beyond the adoration for Bob Marley. Apparently it all had a great deal to do with the evolution in British punk, as well as that late 90s ska scene over on this continent. In that rediscovery lay the much heralded Toots, who some of you might remember from ACL a few years back. Lucky for me, he is playing tomorrow night at Antones w/ Outlaw Nation. Doors are at 8 PM.
I went to The Mohawk Friday night in anticipation of a solid rock show, and for the most part, I got what I asked for that evening. Now, did it all go off successfully, or was I dully rocked to sleep? I’m not sure still. Let me explain. (Show review and pictures after the jump).
It’s not easy writing comics. Sometimes I stare at a blank sheet of paper for hours with nothing to show for it. However, every now and then the comic gods smile down upon me and a strip practically writes itself. Chris Cornell teaming up with Timbaland is one of those moments.
Franz Ferdinand have a new song streaming on their website called “Lucid Dreams”. The song is set to appear on the band’s third studio album due out sometime in January of next year. They want an email address for the song but who said it has to be real? Check it out.
California boys Audrye Sessions have a new song you can download below called “Turn me Off” off their new self-titled album due out Sep. 30th. You can read more about Audrye Sessions and hear some older tunes on their myspace page.

Our friends over at Austin Sound Check have created a mix tape chock full of local acts called Feedback Vol. 1. The Feedback features tracks from Austin acts like Built by Snow, The Band of Heathens, and Full Service among others.
