Veteran rock n roll band The Warlocks will be making a stop at The Parish on Friday night and we think you won’t want to miss it. Opening support will be provided by The Morning After Girls and The Vandelles. Show starts at 8pm and tickets are only $14.

Grand Archives is a band we feel strongly about because they were one of the first bands we had the chance to interview when we started this site over a year ago. Oh and we like their music too… The Seattle based band recently wrapped recording on their sophomore LP effort and first single, “Oslo Novelist” is available for your previewing pleasure now. Keep in Mind Frankenstein will be in stores September 15th via Sub Pop.

We recently ran a feature on new Austin band TV Torso so we’re excited to see that they’ll be playing two shows in Austin on Thursday. The first is an End of an Ear in-store at 6pm followed by a full on headlining set at Mohawk later in the evening. The Mohawk show also features locals Pink Nasty and fellow A2W band The Authors. That show starts around 10pm on the inside stage. Check our Artist to Watch feature on TV Torso for more information about the band.

Elvis Perkins is a busy man who continues to put out new music with his recently formed band Deerland. Mr. Perkins and the boys are continuing their hard work strategy with another EP dropping this fall called The Doomsday EP. First single from the EP, “Slow Doomsday”, is available below. You can get your hands on the new material October 20th via XL Recordings.

So I’m not really sure who this DJ Tiesto guy is, but apparently he was some sort of big deal in the techno/trance scene in the 90s. We bring him up because he’s about to drop a new album with a star studded guest list including indie popsters (and ATH fave) Tegan & Sara. We haven’t heard much from the Quinn sisters recently, so we’ll have to settle for this dance hall jam with DJ Tiesto. You can also expect brand new LP Sainthood from the twin sister duo in late October. This track, “I Feel it in My Bones”, is not confirmed for the girl’s album but will appear on Tiesto’s upcoming album Kaleidoscope due out October 20th.

This week is full of great local shows for you Austin music fans and Thursday night at Beerland is jam packed with local and upcoming talent. The lineup features headliners Whitman along with Frantic Clam, Colour Wheel and Salesman. Door cover is only $5 and things start around 10pm. Don’t forget to keep voting for Whitman in the Sound and Jury contest!

After their huge success from modern musical Once, Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova decided to record an album together under the new moniker Swell Season. The groups first LP will be hitting stores October 27th and will be called Strict Joy. Check it out and let us know what you think in da comments section.

ACL Festival just released their list of aftershows for the 2009 festival. You can check out the full list here with options for purchase. Can’t say I’m too excited about any of them…
Hot music blog band Bat for Lashes are making their way to town at the Parish this Wednesday. Oklahoma boys Other Lives are also returning to town to provide opening support for the show. Unfortunately tickets are sold out for this one, so try your hand at some craigslist or scalping action.
