FT5: Songs With Inexplicable Spanish Use

In all likelihood you have encountered the language known as English.  This bizarre Germanic dialect, which supposedly emanated from a small European island, is ubiquitous in the phenomenon know as “Rock and Roll.”  This so-called music inevitably features guitars and talk of “a-wop-bop-a-loo-bop-a-lop-bop-bop,” which I personally suspect may be coded language for violent revolution, or worse, for drugs!  Though English is still far and away the language of Rock and Roll (but I’ve got my eye on you Rammstein), increasingly artists who have primarily written in the Anglo-Saxon dialect are starting to branch out into the Romance languages.  Through our network of intelligence experts, I was able to obtain the following list which features 5 Songs with Inexplicable Spanish Use.

New Music from Capstan Shafts

A few years ago someone somewhere told me that Capstan Shafts would be right up my alley because they had the whole Guided by Voices quality.  It’s true, and you can’t really complain with anyone who makes bedroom recordings, or in that style, sound really interesting and worthwhile.  So here we are, and its time for the new CS album, Revelation Skirts, to come out on August 24th.  You can label me excited.

New Music From Paleo

Paleo is an artist who has been as hard working as anyone in the business over the last several years.  The guy records and releases all his material on his own, produces his work and the work of others, and even had a stint living out of his car.  Damn.  So congratulations my man on finally finding the right fit with Partisan records, who subsequently are putting out the new Paleo LP A View of the Sky. Fans can pick up that record in stores September 28th.  Until then, enjoy this new track “World’s Smallest Violen”.

New Music From The Murdocks

As previously reported, local boys The Murdocks have been hard at work on an album of new material for the last year or so.  So now in 2010 the guys have the new album ready to go and plan to put out The Distortionist on September 14th.  Prior to the release, the guys are offering up 4 free songs from the album for only the price of an email address.  You can download those songs and go ahead and pre-order your copy of the bands new album on their website.  Check out new song “Black Jesus Knocking” below and see why we’re all about this band.

New Music From Jens Lekman

To say that everyone in the music world has been pretty excited over the last couple of days about a new Jens Lekman tune would be an understatement.  I mean the guy gets nothing but praise from critics and appeals to a huge range of people.  So below we’ve got the new epically titled song “The End of the World is Bigger Than Love” for your enjoyment.  Don’t get too excited just yet, it’s only a single and no word of a new album as of yet.

New Music from Meridene

Anyone who spent the late 90s and early 00s jamming away to indie rock and post-emo tunes definitely will appreciate Meridene.  You’ll find that the group has a lot of nostalgic indie references, but you’ll also notice that nothing feels antiquated, as their sound is entirely fresh.  This track comes from their upcoming record Something Like Blood, which will hit stores on September 28 via Amble Down Records.  Give this a spin or a whirl or a tilt-a-whirl, but be sure to give it a listen.

Free Tunes from Mars Field

Mars Field is an old Irish group who never seem to have reached a lot of acclaim over in the United States, which is kind of a bummer.  Their sound is sort of that melodramatic slow-core that we adored in the late 90s.  It’s heartfelt, sometimes tragic, but always beautiful.  The good news is that you can now get all three of the band’s albums: The Blue Buildings are Burning, Upwards Like a Well and Talking Makes Things Worse.  You’ll want to do this immediately, as they’re all FREE!  Just visit the band HERE.
