Psych Fest Watch: No Joy

You need another great band to see at Psych Fest this weekend? Well, have you met No Joy? They could be that band!

Alright, so this may be a stretch, especially when you narrow down the musical similarities, but in my opinion, the closest we may ever get to Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit video is probably going to be the live performance of No Joy.  Therer are definitely some musical similarities, in so far as both bands seem to practically shred their guitars, using walls of feedback and pummeling drums to punch you in the face.  Every time I’ve seen this band I’ve just been shocked at the innocence that seems to resonate as the ladies politely get ready, but then I’m blown away as distortion takes over the stage, hair bangs in front of the eyes, and the crowd immediately is mesmerized.  If you don’t believe me, take a look at this video for further proof.  You can catch the band Friday night at 12:00 on Stage Two. Get ready.
