New Slow Rocker From Zulu Pearls

Zulu Pearls is a project manned by Zach Van Hoozer who currently resides in Berlin by way of Washington D.C.  It’s funny when reading about this guy who made way to Germany to create his own brand of lo-fi rock n roll that can’t possibly fit in with the scene abroad.  Maybe it does?  Either way, the sound is very reminiscent of something that might be popular stateside, especially in the ATX.  The tune we’ve got to preview the band’s material is called “Magic Tricks” and can be found for stream/download below.  Keep you eyes and ears pealed this fall for an upcoming full length.

New Southern Punk From Natural Child

Nashville southern punk rockers Natural Child have been favorites of the crew around the ATH offices since the release of their LP For The Love of the Game earlier this year.  Well now the band already has new album details coming our way today with news of second LP this year Hard In Heaven coming out way September 11th on Burger Records.  A preview of the new album can be found below in the form of new single “B$ig P$mpin”.  It’s just what you’d expect from the band, fast and furious indie punk with a touch of their native state’s souther rock.

Show Review: The Men @ Red7 (6/30)

We knew what we were in for. We saw it coming. We ignored the warning signs. I was heading into my third night of shows in a row, fourth in five days. Things were escalating. Lower Dens -> Howard Jones -> Nada Surf -> The Men. After seeing their sets during SxSW, we knew we had to be at Red7 to see The Men. They made the 2012 top albums so far list, what kind of music-writer-types would we be if we passed up seeing one of our favorites?

Cruddy, Creamers and Destruction Unit opened.

I have been chewing on this review in my brain since the show and I think I have boiled down for you. Click through, thoughts and pics after the break…

New Electro Pop From Post War Years

This new catchy tune “Glass House” from UK kids Post War Years has perked up my ears this morning.  Something about it just scream British electro-pop in the same vein as ATH favorite Foals.  If nothing else, it’s got a great backing beat that might get a party started in the office.  Stay tuned for the release of the new EP from Post War Years, Glass House, which is due out July 23rd on Chess Club Records.

New Indie Pop From The Rubbish Zoo

Here’s a new song for you kids into the indie-pop genre from L.A. based group The Rubbish Zoo.  The jam is called “I Don’t Know Where I Go” and appears on the band’s latest self-titled EP that can be streamed for free over on their soundcloud page.  Hopefully these are some jams that can put you in a better mood if you’re Monday hasn’t started the way you wanted it to.
