FFF 2012: Friday In Pictures
Minor set back for this photographer wasn’t going to slow me down. I had limited access to photo pits on Friday which luckily was remedied before getting going on Saturday. It meant I got to spend a little more time in the crowd, getting shots of the festival, the people.
I did manage to get some musicians doing their thing as well, don’t panic.
The Friday edition includes Sharon Van Etten, Orthy, Bob Mould, Napalm Death, Cursive, Dum Dum Girls and plenty of atmosphere. Hit the break.
While the lawn at the Orange Stage was in great shape, Blue and Black were already a little ragged from the recent lack of rain. Not dusty like last year yet, but you could tell it was going to get gritty.
Fidlar brought the early energy. Always impressed by Sharon Van Etten. I caught Astronautilus doing a freestyle rap with crowd-sourced topics, pretty impressive. Napalm Death was what this metal-head at heart needed. Bob Mould doesn’t act his age, guess we share that. Val Kilmer was a hot mess in the movie set by the Black Lips. He cut his hair. Guess they were done filming. After two years of having random actors walk in front of us at every music festival in Austin, we are free. Run DMC was the draw.
