Photos: The Spook School Played Sidewinder
Our friends, The Spook School have been on tour with Great Grandpa and Diet Cig. Winter tours can be fickle things, especially if you run through the southwest, shorts and a t-shirt to parkas and snow boots. In speaking with the band’s spokesperson, aka Niall, he shared a few tour anecdotes as he was warming up pre-set in his customary vest and boxer shorts. House party shows, sold out gigs, long runs cross country, actually paying rent while on the road, things are on the up for the band. We are huge fans and love their songs, their message and their shows. Though The Spook School played first, they were our headliners.

The Spook School – A fellow photographer joined me up front for the set and his glowing approval validated our love for the band. Sharing is caring and sharing a band with a friend is the best thing ever.
Great Grandpa – It feels like the soundtrack to a grunge besties dramedy. Midway through their set, the crowd really started to feel sold out. Backed away to take the rest of the night from the backlines.
Diet Cig – Touring as a four-piece, featuring The Spook School’s bass player, Anna. I have to grade them as a full band and I tend to prefer the two-piece stripped down sound of some of the songs adapted to a bigger stage presence. That said, the new material benefits greatly, parity with the recorded jams.
