Raucous New Single From Home Counties

Bristol based band Home Counties may be a new name to you, though you likely knew them under their old moniker Haze. Now with a new name, the guys are debuting this ferocious and electrifying new single called “Redevelopment”. It features a nice melting pot of genres, seeing elements of jerky late 80s bands intertwined well with a more post-punk sound. Whatever label you want to slap on their sound, you have to admit that it is a truly unique and refreshing style. Stay tuned on more from these guys in the future as they release more music.

We here in Austin have known about how much you’ll love Why Bonnie for some time, and now that they’ve got a new EP on the horizon, it’s only fair that we hip you all to that too…in case you hadn’t heard. Perhaps my favorite thing about this single is how it illustrates the band’s ability to move between their quieter inclinations to full on raucous moments; it perfectly captures their live force, which isn’t always easy to pull off. I think the song’s fade out also adds a nice little layer, putting the finer details into tune with little odd notes like bending strings and violin accompaniment. Voice Box is out April 10th via Fat Possum Records.

Raw New Track From Jacqueline Tucci

Little is known about Toronto based musician Jacqueline Tucci at this point since she is brand new to world of online music. She’s so new to the scene in fact that this new single called “Fear” is actually her debut of original material. Exciting! It’s a rather bass heavy, raw, and emotionally driven track with honest lyrics and well timed drums and guitars. It’s a truly promising debut from this young artists. Pharmacy Keys Share Take the Cake

Really been enjoying this track from Cleveland’s Pharmacy Keys, so I why not start off today’s quarantine listening by sharing it with you. It started off with this sort of college rock nod, heavy riffs with underlying melody. But, what really grabbed me was the chorus, and the way the band combine their voices to harmonize, bringing the pop sensibility down upon us; it kind of reminds me to the way Harlem would pull off their gang vocals, only being done here in cool/calm fashion. If you dig what you’re hearing, the band are dropping their album Conjuress today.

Devon Williams Returns with In Babylon

Devon Williams hasn’t been around since 2014’s Gilding the Lily, which, for me, felt like he had mastered his own brand of pop songwriting. But, he’s back today with news of a new LP, A Tear in the Fabric. The song’s success revolves around two distinctive sounds; one part is driven by synths and bass, bouncing the track; the other part is the way the guitars jangle and bend their notes, swirling about to match up with the pitch of William’s voice. I really like the way Devon leaves all sorts of space in this song, like the brief interlude that follows 2:12-2:28; it really sort of builds this other-worldly dreamland that’s not too far form where he left off in 2014. His new LP drops on May 1st via Slumberland Records.

Sleuth Share Sick Days Video

While “Sick Days” was likely written before this coronavirus pandemic, the new video from Sleuth comes at an apt time, particularly in the way it was recorded, with each member filming while in isolation. You’ll likely find some similar ground if you’re laying low and staying safe. Musically, the song has this casual bounce at the get-go, like happily plodding along and telling stories with an old friend. At the 1:16 mark, the song jumps off and gets a touch boisterous, using gang vocals to build up the song’s exuberant nature. It’s a great song, with a relatable video; you’ll find the track on their new album Gold, which is scheduled to drop on May 29th via Lost Sound Tapes/Jigsaw Records.

Fantastic New Song From Sorry

Well I have emerged from my week long hiatus and am back and ready to share some new tunes again. Today I’ve got this one called “As the Sun Sets” from London based upstarts Sorry. What I dig about this track is its effortless ability to meander between multiple genres like folk, pysch, and indie rock while sounding like a true opus of a song. Some of the sonic moments here truly special and mesmerizing.

Sorry will release their debut album 925 this Friday via Domino. Pre-orders are up now.

Bui Share a Conversation About Punk

I hadn’t heard of Bu until this track rolled in, and now I’m pretty sure I’m going to spend my day browsing through the entirety of their tunes. The tune offers up this buzzing wall of noise to start things off, but you can hear the band’s natural tendency towards pop sensibility just behind the curtain of feedback. The guitars jitter and dance, then cut in angularly as the first verse comes into play. Songwriter Josh Healy has this calming delivery, softly rising into the melody when needed; the guitar dances off here, seemingly running away from the distortion behind it…particularly fond of the little stutter at 2:14. Keep an eye out for this bunch going forward; these are good jams!

Neutrals Cover The Exploited for Rent/Your House EP

Last year Neutrals burst onto the scene with Kebab Disco, but with all the hubbub of Bandcamp today…the band has two new offerings of important. First, they’ve tossed up a demo of a brand new track…you can hear that HERE. Second, they’ve just put up orders for their new Rent/Your House EP via Domestic Departure Records. In order to promote the new release, they’re currently sharing the below cover of the classic track from the Exploited, “Hitler’s in the Charts Again.” Now, I know we’re all focused on COVID-19, as we should be, but, this release is donating all proceeds to both RAICES and Border Angels…two important organizations helping immigrant families/causes; we should keep in mind that this pandemic is not the only problem facing the US today. Maybe you like the cause, maybe you like the song…either way, the money goes where its needed most.
