Friday Album Streams – 11.15.24
Well it’s Friday and we all made it through our first full week of the new reality we are currently faced with. Should be fun times ahead! Right? Right!? To save us all from the doom and gloom, tons of great albums are dropping today and we thought it’d be cool to give you some streams and links all in one place. Hopefully you can find something to take with you for the weekend, and of course, please make a purchase in some way if the tunes are in your lane. Check ’em all out after the jump:
Heart to Gold – Free Help
One of my top albums of the year featuring an alt-rock mixed with over the top pop-punk vibes from the Minneapolis group.
Burgess Meredith – Person Hat
Representing Austin this week, our pals in Burgess Meredith have an album of Nilsson inspired, playful pop tunes with lovely vocal harmonies and a vast array of technically sound instrumentation.
Casual Technicians – Deeply Unworthy
The second record from this lot in 2024, and yet another collection of great songwriting, with a willingness to explore various genres on their own outsider terms.
Variety – Subtropical
You thought there was only one solid Austin LP this week? Variety offers an abrasive brand of post-punk, filled with energy and jittering guitars that are meant to kick off things your day with an edge!
The Great Divides – (I’m Sure)
You know the Melbourne scene is one of our global favorites, with every band bringing in something great to our listening rotation. I’ve listened to “Caught On You” at least twice a day, and I hope you do too!
Ed Vallence – Swim
Vallence delivers eleven songs of intimate and delicate singer songwriter tunes. Think FJM, or even Red House Painters with some pop elements mixed throughout.
Yuma Abe – Hotel New Yuma
The 2nd album from Tokyo based songwriter Yuma Abe takes his previously singer/songwriter inspired tunes and turns left towards a more bright and fun Japanese pop sound.
Dwight Yoakam – Brighter Days
The king of pop country returns for his first new album in nine years! Hey, give it a chance ya jerks.
