Love Burns Announces Pavement Drawings

I’ll happily hang my hat on being the tiniest footnote in the story of Phil Sutton and Love, Burns. Phil’s songwriting first came to my attention as a member of Pale Lights, and I was able to look beyond his poor taste in football clubs to help put out It Should Have Been Tomorrow on cassette. Well, he’s just announce a new LB album, and shared a bright bit of jangling pop that kicks off the new records. You can hear Sutton channeling a bit of late era Grant McLennan in the songwriting, or at least that’s what I’m hearing, with a nice dose of backing vocals from Jo Roman playing their part to thicken the texture of the track itself. Pavement Drawings will be out on May 29th via Spinout Nuggets and Jigsaw Records, so grab a copy early so you can catch Phil and company play down at the Athens Underground Pop Fest.
