Another Brooklyn band you say!? Shut up! No I will not! Yet another Brooklyn band, Via Audio, are dropping their second full length album in the early part of 2010. The album is called Animalore and features this single “Babies”. It sort of falls into the dance craze crowd, but it’s also quite the pop jam. You can get your hands on the band’s new album Februaru 23rd via Undetow Music.

It’s time for all you metal heads to come out in Austin at Emo’s tonight with a show by Savannah, GA band Baroness. Local boys Iron Age and fellow metal heads Dark Castle will be providing your opening support. No doubt this will be a loud and heavy show which should wake you up from the weekend.

Right after stopping in Austin on Tuesday, The Whigs have just anounced a new album for release in 2010. The album, In The Dark, will be released on March 2nd of next year via ATO Records. You can get your hands on two songs from the new record on the band’s website for free. One of these new tracks called “Hundred/Million” is below and another by the name of “In the Dark” is free on The Whig’s site. Both are pretty rockin’ little numbers.

Fang Island is another one of those Brooklyn bands that can sometimes fall behind the shadow of their local brothers like MGMT or Yeasayer. The sounds of Fang Island can sometimes resemble those bands, but we think they have a more hard rocking edge to their sound. The band is about to release their debut self-titled LP due out Feb. 23rd on Sargent House. Here’s the first single from that album called “Daisy”.

One of our favorite hip-hop artists Aesop Rock is making his way to Mohawk on Friday night with some other hip-hop acts. Joining in on the events are Rob Sonic, DJ Big Wiz, and Starving Martyrs. Should be a solid night of hip-hop stylings in Austin.

Imagine my surprise today when I found this new track from Sweden pop group Shout Out Louds! This band won me over a few years ago with their album Our Ill Wills and I have been a fan ever since. The new LP from the Swedes, Work, is due out Feb. 23rd on Merge. First single “Walls” from the record is below. 2010 is shaping up to be one helluva year.

Man, a show by Athens, GA band The Whigs on the indoor stage at Emo’s sounds like one hell of a loud and awesome rock show. Fellow rockers The Features and A Giant Dog will also be getting down on the inside stage. This is surely a show you won’t want to miss.
