A great show is going down Saturday night at Red 7 with some of the best talent this little town has to offer.  Your stacked lineup of up and comers includes The White White Lights, She Sir, A Tiger Named Lovesick, and recent ATH favorite Milk Thistle.  All of these bands could be thrown into the favorites of Austin Town Hall bag.  We recommend that you don’t miss this chance to see these bands, as I’m sure they’ll be playing to larger crowds soon.

Date 3/4/11
Location Stubbs
Doors 7pm
Tickets $18 @ Frontgate

A night that many of us have been looking forward to for quite some time has finally come with the Walkmen show at Stubbs on Friday night.  Opening support for the night will be provided by The Head and The Heart and Austin’s very own up and comers TV Torso.  Making the night even more enticing is a set by friends of ATH Whitman on the inside stage immediately after the Walkmen finish up outside.  More good news is that you’ll get in free to the Whitman show with a wristband from the outside show.  Make a night of it people.

Show Preview: PS I Love You @ Mohawk (3/1)

Date 3/1/11
Location Mohawk
Doors 900p
Tickets $10 @ the Door

We brought you a little contest last week promoting this show, and we really think you should check out the great line-up Tuesday night, not to mention the fact that there’s very little else going on in town.  You’ll get the wonderful PS I Love You, bringing on countless hits, not to mention they might even throw in their new track for you.  Plus, you’ll get to see Diamond Rings, who put on a great set with Robyn last week, but is probably even better suited in a small venue.  Topping off the night will be Netherfriends, and it’s only $10, so you have to go.  I mean, music is going to have slim pickings for national acts really until SXSW, so catch these great bands while you can. And, don’t forget to pick up the split 7″ from the bands while you’re there.

Show Review: Broken Social Scene/Zeus @ La Zona Rosa (2/18)

Feeling a bit under the weather Friday night, I still managed to make it out to La Zona Rosa for one of my all time favorite bands Broken Social Scene.  Before I let anyone down here, my sickness got much worse as the night progressed and caused me to leave about 6-7 songs into the Broken Social Scene set.  I did however catch the full set by underrated opening band Zeus.  Follow the jump for a few thoughts and photos.

The incredible alt-country rockers known as Lucero are making a stop at Emo’s in Austin Tuesday night.  Joining the guys on stage are Houston country styling band Robert Ellis & The Boys.   Ben Nichols is one of the strongest frontman around, using his combination of booze and passion to compel audiences across the nation.  There’s not a bad thing to say about this band, and if you missed their set at ACL, then you need to make up for it this time around.

Show Preview: Sebadoh @ Emos (2/19)

Date Saturday, Feb 19th
Location Emos
Doors 900p
Tickets $15 from Ticketweb

You want a chance to get a little bit of a history lesson to go along with your good rock tunes? Well, then you definitely need to show up at Emos this Saturday night, especially since Lou Barlow will be playing with his band Sebadoh!  You might recognize Lou from a little known act, Dinosaur Jr., but he’s done a great bit of solo work, not to mention his work with Sebadoh.  Then, throw the always entertaining Quasi, and you’ve got a pretty solid show that no one seems to be talking about.  And to top it all off, you get to see local opener TV Torso, who continue to write great songs to go along with their strong live sets.  Seems like you know the place to be this Saturday.
