Those looking for some fun free things to do on a Monday evening in Austin should head over to The ND for a party/show celebrating Fashion Week. The event begins at 7pm with free food provided by Frank and free drinks running until 9pm. After that, local favorites L.A.X., Quiet Company, and The Soldier Thread will be providing your musical entertainment. Should be a good time!

The incredible A.A. Bondy is making another appearance in Austin at the ND this Friday. Joining the talented singer songwriter on the stage for a dual headlining show is JBM. The ND website also has veteran Austin act Milton Mapes ~~listed as opening the show~~, but I can’t seem to confirm that with the band. Confirmed – MM won’t be there.

All ATH Summer Mixtape bands, we proudly give the stamp of approval to all bands on this lineup. Headlining the evening’s events are ecltro group Fresh Millions along with alt-rockers Love at 20 and indie rock kids SuperLiteBike joining in the fun. At only $7, we’re sure this is the best bang for your buck in town.

But, every so often, the young punk in me awakens, and I get to catch a glorious moment of raucous power on stage, if only for a night. I’ve been all about Gentleman Jesse for ages, and I haven’t ever gotten the chance to see him, though he’s been through town on several occasions. He’s going to blow Beerland away with his straight power pop with a twist of punk. You have no idea how fun this could really be. Other great bands will be on hand such as White Mystery, The Barreracudas and Pleasure Kills. Sounds like a solid way to spend a night on the town. Want to meet up?

For years people have been talking about Ariel Pink as if he was some sort of underground genius, waiting for his chance to break through to the masses, if only he had the chance. After the release of the recent album, Before Today, it seems the chance is upon him. We headed out to the Mohawk to see for ourselves, and to catch Puro Instinct and Magic Kids along the way. So as a part of our new partnership with L.A. kids Future Sounds, we here at ATH are glad to announce the first of many shows we have planned with the music company. So Wednesday we’ll be heading over to Beerland in Austin for a super awesome show being put on by us, Futuresounds, The Austinist, Covert Curiosity, A.V. Club, and Waterloo. Music for the evening is provided by local favorites The Sour Notes, Hollywood Gossip, and Literature. Best part of all… It’s Free! What better way to celebrate the little bit of summer we still have left.

This has already been one crazy week for shows, and we’ve got another excellent show lined up for you Saturday night, at least for those on the heavier side of things. Ty Segall is coming to town in support of his new record , Melted, which came out awhile back. It’s destined to be a glorious night of fast paced punk rock with a solid line-up backing up Ty while he’s in town. Not only will you get to see Ty unleash some fury, but you’ll also get to see Royal Baths, The Hex Dispensers, Charlie and the Moonhearts, and A Giant Dog. Looks like a great night to skip the heat and catch these great acts in the cool Emos indoor air.
