Hole in the Wall is the place to be on Saturday if you want to check out the best and brightest of up and coming local artists!  The lineup is just straight nasty and highlights include ATH favorites Quiet Company, Frantic Clam, Deathray Davies, DJ Mel and a whole butt load of others that won’t all fit in this small space. Ticket prices vary throughout the day so here’s the lowdown on that:

Free from 2-7
$3 from 7-10
$7 from 10-2am

So I say post up at 2, don’t leave, and never pay an entrance fee.  Check out do512 or that fancy poster for full lineup info.  Why not make back to school more like happy time?

The Sword Return To Austin

Shine thine axe and prepare for two nights of face melting metal the likes have never before been seen when The Sword make their triumphant return to Austin this weekend.  Both shows are at Mohawk and are on Friday and Saturday.  Friday night also features Ratking and Pack of Wolves with Calm Blue Sea and Matthew and The Arrogant Sea inside after the headliners.  Saturday night includes opening support from Fingaar Bangaar and Woodgrain.  Get Friday night tickets here and Saturday ones here.  Don’t miss this… trust me.

Thunderheist @ Emo’s (8/27)

Get your dancin’ pants on for a fun filled Thursday night at Emo’s with DJ duo Thunderheist.  Fellow dance crazy bands L.A.X. and Vicious will also be on hand to help you get your party pants on.  Make sure you RSVP with Turn 2 Live to ensure you get in for the $5 charge.

Moth! Fight! @ The Independent (8/26)

We’ve been getting more and more into local band Moth! Fight! recently and we’re thinking you might enjoy catching one of their awesome live sets at The Independent on Wednesday.  Opening support for this one is provided by Noise Revival Orchestra and Follow that Bird.  Should be a fun night of local music!

Local shows are solid this week and Mohawk on Wednesday night is a great option to check out some of that local talent.  The lineup includes pop hit makers Loxsly, Birdlips and fairly new locals Ideal Soul Mart.  The show is also in celebration of Ideal Soul Mart’s debut LP which can be streamed in it’s entirety over on the band’s new bandcamp page.

Harlem @ The Parlor (8/25)

Local boys Harlem have been rising to fame after their recent signing to Matador Records and we always try to make it to their shows around town.  You can catch one of these shows Tuesday night at The Parlor and you won’t pay a dime!  Oakland band The Bare Wires and fellow locals Koreans will also be performing at the free event.

The Music Of Pink Floyd @ Club Deville (8/21)

poodleLucy the Poodle magazine is putting on quite the event this Friday night at Club Deville in Austin.  The night features literally tons of local artists covering the great HOF band Pink Floyd.  The lineup includes Cari and Jason of Belaire, The Hi Tones, Til We’re Blue or Destroy, The Alice Rose, The Raven Tree, Blase Faire, The Clouds are Ghosts, The Noise Revival Orchestra, and Leisure Tourniquet.  Whew.  As if that wasn’t enough, the night will also feature a light show, tons of free stuff, and a screening of Dark Side of Oz after the last band has wrapped up.  Entrance fee is only $7 and doors things start around 8pm.  Should be one helluva night.  More info can be had over on the do512 or on that fancy flier.

TV Torso @ EOAE & Mohawk (8/20)

tv_torso_photographer_tim_murrayWe recently ran a feature on new Austin band TV Torso so we’re excited to see that they’ll be playing two shows in Austin on Thursday.  The first is an End of an Ear in-store at 6pm followed by a full on headlining set at Mohawk later in the evening.  The Mohawk show also features locals Pink Nasty and fellow A2W band The Authors.  That show starts around 10pm on the inside stage.  Check our Artist to Watch feature on TV Torso for more information about the band.

Whitman @ Beerland (8/20)
