Crocodiles came to town and used it as a way to pull in a ton of local acts and show them off. Cheap Curls is the current project of former Dum-Dum Girl Katie Brouillette-Serbian. We also had Gal Pals and La Migra.

The Carousel Lounge is a long-standing Austin venue, and boy have they picked a great show to host on Tuesday night. Spencer Dobbs and Mancat House Band will be opening up the evening for the very excellent folk-y MV + EE. The Vermont duo recently released the very excellent Space Homestead, and I couldn’t think of many better places to catch the act live. Just like their music, the venue’s a little bit off the beaten path; it’ll provide the perfect amount of intimacy for the evening of enjoyable tunes. Sounds like just the right place to be to get your liver warmed up before Halloween.

Having fallen in love with Bend Beyond, the recent release from Woods, I couldn’t wait for the show at Red 7. It topped off what was already an excellent night of music for us at ATH, and for those of you in Austin.

It took awhile for the crowd to fill in to The Mohawk last night, but once they did, they got a great show from Matthew Dear. …though they might have missed some good opening acts.

ATH proudly supports Crocodiles and the beautiful pop tunes they’ve grown famous for creating. That being said, you had to know that this show at Red 7 we be recommended by the entire crew as your best bet for a Friday night show in town. Making the show even more enticing is a solid supporting package with Cheap Curls, Gal Pals, and La Migra all joining in on the fun. We shall see you there purveyors of all things good.

Wednesday night is full of good solid shows, but one of our highlights for the week is Producer/DJ Matthew Dear. He’s blowing into town in support of his popular new record, Beams; he’s sure to provide you with your midweek energy! But, if that wasn’t enough, he’s bringing Outputmessage along with him, but you need to definitely get there at doors because one of Austin’s most exciting acts, Orthy will be opening the night up just before the group heads out on a nice East Coast tour. Those of you with the dance/electronic leaning, this is the place you’ll want to be.

I can’t imagine how loud it’s going to be inside Stubbs tonight, but I have a feeling we’re all going to need some ear plugs to catch this great rock show over at Stubbs. First on the bill is Jeff the Brotherhood, who’ve nailed down crunchy guitar rock with powerful hooks and anthemic lyrics on albums Hypnotic Nights and We Are Champions. Then you have Diarrhea Planet, who definitely have a taste for the distorted guitar sound turned all the way up. And you can’t go wrong by showing up early to catch locals Low Times! If you need a little bit of noise and a lot of fun, see you at Stubbs.

ACL is over, and FFF Fest is on the horizon, but it’s Austin, so there’s always plenty of things going on, musically speaking. I’ve picked some of the lesser-known highlights for you to check out in the next few days. Those looking for something fun to do on Saturday night should head on over to Red 7 for a sure to be fun show by indie-pop band Hospitality. The bands in support are also a highlight and include Hop Along, My Golden Calf, and TEEN. This is a great lineup for you live music fans and you can’t beat that rock bottom price.
