New Jam From Radical Dads

Radical-DadsRadical Dads is a band that has earned a lot of attention around this website over the years and it’s clear that we dig these guys (and gal).  With that said, you shouldn’t be surprised that we want to share their music when it comes our way.  This new track, “Creature Out”, is yet another reason to get into Radical Dads.  It has a great driving force that we’ve come to enjoy and it of course rocks.

You can get a phsycial copy of this tune on November 5th via 7″ single on EAU Records.

White Birds + Night Panthers = Forever Evers

artworks-000059713214-yhesrz-t500x500We’ve actually written about both of these bands a ton, and honestly, I didn’t see such a collaboration coming our way.  That being said, I’m actually really pleased with the end result from Forever Evers; it’s a dreamy electro pop number that you’ll want to play for the rest of the day. There’s this stuttering electronic loop that remains central to the track, with the heavier beat really driving home the sensation. And the vocals are just what I’d expect from something that James Harvey is part of, which means it’s great.  We’ll keep you posted on a possible release.

Catchy Tune from The Sea Life

seaMondays are always difficult for everyone, trying to climb out of bed and head back to the daily grind.  Sometimes you need a nice little pick me up, and I hope that this tune from The Sea Life helps you out in that arena.  The band’s been changing around the line-up a bit, and they claim that that has influenced their sound a bit; whatever they say, it’s good to my ears.  It’s got this throbbing hook, but in an indie pop realm, as opposed to some sort of electronic induced push and pull. Definitely a group who’ve caught my attention today. Enjoy.

Bonobo Is Playing Fun Fun Fun Fest

BonoboFun Fun Fun Fest is a week away.

Among the artists coming that I have been a fan of for a long time, one that I have always had a conflict to prevent me seeing live set is Bonobo. Dial ‘M’ For Monkey is a mandatory road trip album. Can’t recall what was going on that I couldn’t make the show earlier this year at Emo’s, but I missed it. While Simon Green is touring with a band, he is also one helluva DJ. If you aren’t familiar with The Boiler Room, get familiar. It is a great way to soundtrack your late night activities.

I give you the Bonobo track he opens this Boiler Room set with called “Cirrus” to download and you can stream the set in the widget dealie below that. Cool thing is that you can download the Boiler Room set, as well. See the “Download” just below the player thingie? Click that doo-hickey and put your head down.

Meet Morgan Delt

MorganDelt_AlbumArtTrouble in Mind Records remains one of the most solid choices for a band looking to get signed.  They’ve got a unique blend of artists, though the all have some sonic similarities.  So, it’s no suprise that their latest signing, Morgan Delt, has his feet firmly planted in the history of California.  There’s bits of classic Cali pop, yet you’ll also find this lurking psychadelia that courses throughout.  He’ll be releasing his self-titled debut on January 28th, helping us keep things interesting to start off 2014. I’m interested to hear more from Morgan, and we wish him the best.

Old School Indie Rock From Lo Fine

lofineI’ve been in a bit of an old school mood lately and this track “All We Need is Hell” from Lo Fine is keeping me in that mind set.  It’s a little on the slow side for you rock n roll fans, but I dig the throwback quality myself.  It reminds me of something we would have heard back in the day from bands like Nada Surf or Built to Spill.  These guys have been around for awhile so it’s no surprise that they’re hanging on to what they know best.

New album Want is a Great Need is due out November 15th.

New Found Track from The Hunt

huntSeems like today is a good day to catch up with all the tunes that have been coming out recently that I liked, but saw other people get to first.  It’s slow around these parts, so I want to post this tune from The Hunt, who are no longer, but will see a lost LP released soon.  All they really had to tell me was that the guys in the Hunt now work in Cult of Youth, which is one of those bands I love to love.  Their sound reminds me an awful lot of a more Robert Smith influenced version of Cold Cave; it’s built on gothic premise, but remains every bit a pop sound.  You like it? You’re in luck. Sacred Bones Records will release The Hunt Begins on November 12th.

Another New Blanche Blanche Blanche Tune!

blancheMan, I’m really digging what Blanche Blanche Blanche has been putting out.  It’s like this weirdo post-punk meld with touches of industrial added in for fun.  This new track has some weird effects on Sarah Smith’s vocals, which still have this dark sterility feeling.  Sounds dangerous and odd right? It is, but there’s still this level of attachment that comes for listeners via the driving spirit that creates the constant tension in the track.  Their Breaking Mirrors LP will be released by Wharf Cat Records on November 5th, next week!

Fun Track From Painted Palms

paintedpalmsHere’s a great new track called “Spinning Signs” from one of our more recent discoveries Painted Palms.  This song is just downright fun to listen to.  It’s poppy, it has a sort of doo wop vibe, and it seems to get more enjoyable with each spin.  Hope you enjoy on your spooky evening.  Say wha?

On January 14th you can pick up new album, Forever, on Polyvinyl.

New Music from Magic Trick

EMP019_Jacket_Front_med_125233I hate to be that guy, but I am that guy.  I love pretty much anything and everything that Tim Cohen touches. His work with Magic Trick seems to have taken an even softer approach today, with his latest single hitting the streets.  It’s a gentler man than his other gig, which is why we I love getting to see the two sides of Mr. Cohen; it’s great to see that our favorite songwriters have other outlets and are pushing themselves. His new effort, River of Souls, looks to be wrapping up the year nicely, seeing a release date of December 3rd on Empty Cellar Records.
