Cold War Kids In Austin (10/24)

The Cold War Kids will be playing a couple shows in Austin this Friday.  First one is a free show at Waterloo Records going down at 5pm with free keg beer of course.  Second show of the day takes place at Emo’s with A.A. Bondy in support.  Better try searching craigs list if you wanna make it to the Emo’s show because it’s been sold out for a while now.  Here’s Cold War Kids most recent single “Something is Not Right With Me”.

It’s Friday afternoon, you’re painfully waiting for 5 o’clock and Austin Town Hall wants to throw a new band your way. Maybe your brain isn’t working anymore from the stressful week almost behind you, but why not take some new music to your pre-pre-halloween party this weekend? Today we bring you, Other Lives, who hail from Stillwater, OK. The band, formerly know as Kunek, will be dropping their debut self-titled EP on the 21st of October. Here’s the single from that EP “Paper Cities”.

I read a little blurb about this band, Ham1, on MOKB and thought we’d give them a little love as well.  The band hails from Athens, GA and plans to release their third LP, The Underground Stream, sometime this fall.  If you aren’t feeeling to spendy, you can downloaded a free copy of this album on the band’s website! Portugal. The Man @ Emo’s (10/18)

One of the few bands to come out of Alaska, Portugal. The Man, are making the huge trek to Austin on Saturday night.  The Emo’s show will only cost ya $12 and gets started around 9pm.  Get your tickets now and be in attendance for a band that everyone will know about real soon.  Latest single from the band “Lay me Back Down” can be heard below.

Free Dead Heart Bloom EP

This may be the best week ever for freeloading albums and EPs off the interweb!  Today sees NYC band, Dead Heart Bloom, being the latest to offer up free tunes for your enjoyment.  The EP up for grabs is entitled Oh Mercy and is the second in a series of three planned EPs for 2008.  You can download this EP along with the first EP and Dead Heart Bloom’s first two albums all on the same page.  All artists should be this generous!  Check out my favorite track from the EP “I”m Going to go Meet Jesus” below.

Dressy Bessy @ Emo’s 10/16

Dressy Bessy seem to be on the verge of “making it” as artists.  The band has been around for over 10 years now but it seems like they are finally gaining notariety in the blog/music world.  That being said, you better seize the opportunity now to see them at a smaller venue like Emo’s Lounge.  The band will be playing the Jr. version of Emo’s on Thursday with doors at 9pm and tickets only $8.  Latest single “Electrified” can be heard below.
