Austin giants Spoon just announced that they will be dropping a new EP our way and we’ve got a little taste of it here for you. This new track “Got Nuffin” will appear on the EP of same name which hits stores tomorrow. You’ll be able to pick it up as an MP3 download, CD, or in the old school vinyl version. Anybody want to offer up opinions on Spoon’s first new material since the incredible 2007 album Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga?

Sondre Lerche has been at it a long time, and he never really misses his mark when he goes into the studio. He’s got a new album titled Heartbeat Radio coming out this September, and we’re sure you will all love it. We’ve got the title track right here for you to sample. And as always, it’s really about the wonderful vocals of Sondre, which continue to warm us over.

Austin veterans Sunset are getting down at Emo’s on Tuesday and we think you should make it out to support your local music scene. Fellow local and solid bands The Sour Notes and Wild Moccasins will join the band on the stage for what should be a fun night of Austin music. Doors open up at 9pm and door charge is only $5.

Belaire is in Austin band that have been going strong for quite some time now and we really never get tired of seeing them live. As if these Austin veterans weren’t enough, the night has two solid openers in Cryptacize and Black Before Red joining in on the fun. The always steady and entertaining Ben Kweller is making another stop in Austin at Emo’s on Saturday night. Joining Mr. Kweller on the stage will be Jones Street Station and a special acoustic set by The Murdocks. Tickets are on sale now for $18 and music starts around 9pm. I’ve been feeling really nostalgic lately about my Emo days in high school and college so I thought the hottest Austin emo band Mineral would be a solid choice for our From the Closet. Mineral were only around for about 4 years and only put out two full LPs, both of which superb additions to the then trendy Emo genre. After their break up in 1998, Chris Simpson went on to form The Gloria Record and now fronts the Austin folk-pop band Zookeeper. The song I’ve got for you is “& Serenading” which appears on the bands second LP EndSerenading. It’s long been one of my favorites from the late 90s emo genre.

Tauton, MA band Wheat just posted some new material for their fans to check out. New single “Hott” has been blowing up our itunes over the last day or so and we hope it makes you smile this summer. The track will appear on the band’s upcoming album White Ink, Black Ink due out July 21st via Rebel Group. What’s your take?

A recent local find by us, Quiet Company, are playing a show at Antone’s on Friday night and have some surprises in store. To start off, the band will be joined on the stage by fellow locals The Mercers, Zookeeper, and Wiretree as openers. Tickets will cost you $10 online or $15 for a ticket and a CD. To make things more enticing, the band has a deal with do512 that allows you to get a free 9 song EP, a chance to win tickets, and a 50% off deal just be liking the event. Spiral Stairs is Scott, one of the founding fathers of Pavement, so you can already label us stoked on the news of his solo release this October on Matador Records. The album is titled The Real Feel, and it features various artists making guest appearances, including Austin’s own Ian Moore. Some guy named Kevin Drew is on there as well. Sit back and enjoy the brightness of this new tune by Spiral Stairs.

The indie-folk music has been getting a lot of attention on our site recently and a new Avett Brothers song just means that the genre will be getting more attention from us.
