Frightened Rabbit have a new song that we found on the old interweb yesterday. The song is called “Last Tango in Brooklyn” and appears on a new fake book compilation called The Lifted Brow. You might be surprised by the different sound from the band, but the tune is still quite tasty.

Austin’s own, Shearwater, recently made an appearance on the NPR Tiny Desk Concert series. The intimate in house set features 4 songs played with nothing but acoustic instruments and some really random/awesome home made instruments by the band’s drummer Thor Harris. One of my favorite discoveries of the year, Horse Feathers, just recorded a Woxy Lounge session and the nice folks at The Futurist have all the live songs available for download. The band plays 3 songs from their stellar 2008 album House With no Home and one from their 2006 release Words Are Dead. Here’s the live track from the 2006 album called “Mother’s Sick”. Beautiful.

Comet Gain has been one of my favorite bands for several years now, yet they never really seem to pop into the consciousness for most people. This new track comes off a 7” that also features the song “Love Without Lies.” Each song will appear on the band’s newest album Broken Record Players, set to hit our shores this coming Tuesday, November 18th.
