New Music from King of Cats

working outWhy does the year have to end? There still seems like there’s great tunes to be had, such as this tune from King of Cats. This track starts our innocently enough, but when the guitar breakdown comes in I find myself hooked every time, even when I know what’s coming. The vocals get a touch harsh from Max Levy at some points, but that huge riff draws me back in to the tune. The band’s debut album, Working Out, is coming out soon from Art Reeks, a new collaborative label by some folks over in the UK.  Sometimes a good riff just makes everything worth it.

New Jam from Radstewart

radstewartThat’s right. Rad-stewart, not Rod Stewart.  Huge difference. They have a brand new single coming out on Art Reeks, which we’ve previously mentioned as the collaboration between Reeks of Effort and Art Is Hard…two small labels with great rosters.  They’ve got a 12″ compilation called Art Reeks coming out shortly, and they’ve just put up a new song from Radstewart. The tune reminds me a lot of Art Brut; it starts off with a bit of art-pop, then moves into a bombastic explosion of joy.  It’s the kind of tune that is able to turn any frown upside down.  Pick up your copy HERE.

Brooding Pop from Joey Fourr

artreeksA new year means new music from one of my favorite little labels, Art is Hard Records.  They’ve just announced a new compilation titled Art Reeks, which is being curated in conjunction with Reeks of Efforts.  When they tossed out this new track from Joey Fourr I was pretty amazed at how incredible the former Tubelord frontman sounds.  It might be rather early in the year, but this is definitely a track that’s got a lot of longevity in terms of how many times I can play it in a row without getting distracted.  You’ll be kicking yourself if you don’t at least let yourself spin this two or three times today.
