Other Lives Announce For Their Love

It’s been almost 5 years since we last heard from Other Lives, but today they’re back with the announcement of For Their Love. While they’ve been away for a minute, they’re clearly every bit as interested in the detailed craftsmanship of song as ever; this video alone features an array of instruments and textures used to build a huge sweeping movement. This song in particular never seems to peak, hanging the chorus just on the edge of restraint…a tip either way and the song wouldn’t come off nearly as perfect as it does here. It’s good to hear from this lot; they’ll be releasing For Their Love on April 24th via ATO Records.

Hey New Temples Song!

Not sure how we missed the news of another highly anticipated album from our UK mates Temples, but it’s never too late to share their fantastic music. The band’s latest single “You’re Either On Something” can be found streaming below for your enjoyment. As usual, the band continues to keep things focused on true rock music with heavy, fuzzed out guitars and a super tight rhythm section.

Temples will be releasing new album Hot Motion on September 27th via ATO Records.

Pleased to Meet You: Slow Dancer (SXSW Artist)

I feel like I’ve got a pretty good grasp of what’s going on in the Aussie music scene, but I haven’t heard of the slow jam stylings of Slow Dancer until today. The pop crooner is so new in fact, that he hasn’t quite made it to the States, though that will surely change after announcing he’s signed with ATO Records and has agreed to play at SXSW. His new video displays an understated groove to it, allowing plenty of room for his rhythmic voice to take on the focus. Shout out to one of the female stars in the video for her “Don’t Mess With Texas” t-shirt! Look for a new album from the project come Spring.

New Music From Two Gallants

Here’s a new one from Two Gallants called “Broken Eyes” that I’ve been hanging on to until my mood felt right for posting.  It’s a country twanged singer-songwriter tune that features nothing but an acoustic guitar, some southern vocal harmonies, and the occasional harmonica solo.  Not sure if it’s my recent vacation or what, but the simplicity and heartfelt approach really has me in a great mood.  This new song will appear on the band’s first new LP in over 5 years entitled The Bloom and the Blight due out September 4th on ATO Records.

Mellow Country-Tinged Track from Lucero

Those of you who’ve been fortunate enough to follow Lucero over the years surely know how great of a songwriter Ben Nichols can be, and with his group filling in the empty spaces, they always craft great songs. Ben’s voice always provides a bit of scratchiness to your listening experience, giving a nice little twist to typical Americana.  You’ll find just such treasures on the group’s new album Women and Work, which comes out on March 13th via ATO Records.  This new single is about as mellow as the band gets, with bits of twang, horns and slide guitar being utilized to create a strong backbone for another great Lucero track.
