Our second installment of The Rumble in Austin with our new friends over at Future Sounds continues this week at Beerland on Red River.  For the evening we’ll be bringing you some talented locals in the form of Pure Ecstasy, Soft Healer, and Sleep Over.  I think it goes without saying that this night will be jam packed full of experimental and interesting new takes on music.  All 3 acts could be “the next big thing” out of our little town.  Oh and best of all, it’s free!  Many thanks to our fellow sponsors The AV Club, Waterloo Records, The Austinist, and Covert Curiosity for making this thing possible.

Gentleman Jesse and His Men @ Beerland (8/12)

Date Thursday, August 12th
Location Beerland
Doors 900p
Tickets Around $6?

I’ve been all about Gentleman Jesse for ages, and I haven’t ever gotten the chance to see him, though he’s been through town on several occasions.  He’s going to blow Beerland away with his straight power pop with a twist of punk.  You have no idea how fun this could really be. Other great bands will be on hand such as White Mystery, The Barreracudas and Pleasure Kills.  Sounds like a solid way to spend a night on the town.  Want to meet up?

It’s been a slow week for rock n’ roll right? Seriously, get there early, drink a few beers, and enjoy a night full of amazing bands.

Sonny and the Sunsets @ Beerland – (6/6)

Date Sunday, June 6th
Location Beerland
Doors 1000p
Tickets Who Knows?

You’re bummed you missed the MGMT show on Sunday, so you’re looking for something spectacular to do, right? Well, the hot ticket that no one seems to be paying much heed to is Sonny and the Sunsets.  They’ve got a bit of that Dutchess and the Duke sound going, with a whole lot less of the Rolling Stones to it.  Really, this is the place to be on Sunday night, no matter what you’re into, as this band is legit. One listen to their album Tomorrow is Alright and you’ll be hooked; I promise.  Be there if you know what’s good for you!

Chaos n’ Tejas Preview: Nobunny

Sweat, tie-dyed underwear, one heel and a bunny mask–oh yea, and the best garage rock being put out today!  Ladies and gentlemen Nobunny is going to rock your socks all the way off and then impregnate your girlfriend.  I just caught him in Oklahoma City last night and left in a Pabst induced stupor wishing that more bands would leave it all out on the stage like these guys did.  You can catch Nobunny headlining at Beerland Thursday night for $6.  Masks on kids.

Corey.Ayers runs Hulktrhash, and is a sometimes writer for ATH.
