Heavy Meddo Share Atonal Choir File

Austin’s own Bill Baird is somewhat of a local legend at this point in the underground music scene here in town. He’s long been involved both as a solo artist as well as bands and projects touching on a massive expanse of genres and styles. His latest work, Heavy Meddo, sees him joined by pals Jonathan Horne, Jordan Johns, and Ethan Smith for a psych heavy, sludgy new form of rock music. New single “Yearning Yuppie Honor Roll,” is an absolute slap in the face of an introduction to the new material and upcoming album. Heavy AF.

Pre-orders for the new album entitled Atonal Choir File are live now.

Bill Baird Drops Another Single from New Album

Long time Bill Baird supporter here, with a new tune from his forthcoming record to share with you. Interestingly, this tune definitely has a Bill vibe to it, though I can also see striking similarities to mid-period Beck; he’s got that same casual bravado, partly cool and partly captivating. Plus, the chorus is a sunny bit, aided by the joint vocals between Baird and Jesse Woods. Nightly Never Ending is already sounding like it will be your typical journey through sound, and we can’t wait for it to drop; luckily, it comes out on June 22nd via Super Deluxe. Pre-order the album HERE.

New Tune from Bill Baird

Nothing makes me happier than the fact that Bill Baird consistently writes beautiful songs, and his latest single is just another in a long line of wondrous tunes. This time, Bill his joined by his friend (and ours) Jana Horn for a duet performance. It’s an airy affair, with the guitar notes almost coming across understated, sliding subconsciously into your mind. Jana’s voice comes in first, and it fits in perfectly with they hazy imagery of the video; she has this way of singing just above a whisper that’s absolutely intoxicating. Bill joins her for the chorus before taking on a short verse of his own…then they return together as the sun finally rises. This song will appear on Bill’s new LP, Gone, which is slated for release Friday, March 2nd.

New Music from Bill Baird

On Friday, one-time Austinite Bill Baird will release his latest outing, Straight Time; he says it will be the last self-recorded/produced of his for awhile. On the tune below, he paints an ode to Austin, filled with various local native name drops, but ultimately, it’s the song that takes hold of you. It’s an ambling track, riding this beautiful guitar sound to the promised land; it’s almost as if you’re sitting in the back of a convertible on a warm Texas afternoon, cruising down the interstate as Bill coolly blasts his vocals through your stereo speakers. Somehow he’s captured the essence of Austin in song; I particularly enjoy the slow burn of the chorus before he jumps into the “Wilford Brimley” line. If you want to know what this city’s all about, give this tune a listen…and be sure to grab Straight Time on Friday.

New Music from Bill Baird

Well, this is technically new, but only if you’re living in the States, as Bill Baird‘s recently released his latest LPs already in the EU/UK. This tune appears on one of the two, Baby Blue Abyss (the other is titled Easy Machines). Bill is seemingly working with some loops, similar to what one would expect from early Beck, building simple pop structures and letting them play over and over again until you’re stuck with them forever….in a good way, of course. I really enjoy his evolution since his early days living in Austin, and I appreciate the length of these tunes. They really allow you to sit down and let the world spin away behind you. Look for his new work to hit the States on July 28th.

Another New Bill Baird Song

Former Austinite and ATH fave Bill Baird is preparing for the release of two new albums, and we’ve got a new track to share with you today. This song was actually recorded live here in Austin with a few friends, then finished up a bit later. It’s a gentle track, and perhaps the perfect way to begin your Wednesday, washing you with a sensation of calm. I love hearing the buzz of the strings as their played, and as the song fades to a close, a moment of inner bliss will surely wash over you. Baby Blue Abyss and Easy Machines are the titles of his new work, and they’ll both be released on April 28th.

Fresh New Bill Baird Video

Okay, so this video surfaced last week, but I’m always going to support Bill Baird. He was a vital part in making Austin a creative space as the Internet blew up (we were there!), and he’s continued making incredible music…even as he’s moved on to new pastures. Honestly, I’d buy into his new music on the chorus of this track alone, but the video and the expansive swath of psych meets pop is pretty brilliant. The video takes Bill on an odd journey through the dark, daily life of a cleaning maid. Look to grab Earth into Aether from Rough Trade.
