Hadnot Creek Shares Birds Single/Album

You can file this latest tune from Hadnot Creek under the various tracks I just missed out on this past Friday, thus here I am to make up for it. Hadnot Creek is the project of Robert Sawrey, and for some reason, I hear bits of Richard Buckner melting into his performance here. There’s this powerful vocal, scratching at its own vocal cords in order to get the notes out, drenching listeners in pure emotion. There’s a buoyant strum and a spritely gallop from the drums that add a hint of spirit, just to push the earnestness of Sawrey’s songwriting further, leaving you a perfect piece. If you’re looking for more, check out the whole of Birds now!

Intimate Number From Simen Mitlid

On a fairly gloomy Friday morning, this new song called “Birds” from Oslo based artist Simen Mitlid seems to be the perfect song for me today. Though it may come across as a strictly somber tune, it also features some brightness with atmospheric harmonies and clean guitars. Really this is a beautifully crafted song akin to something along the lines of older A.A. Bondy or Iron & Wine. Exactly what I needed to hear this morning.

This track will be the title track on an album of the same name coming out in the fall of 2020.

Simen Mitlid Announces Birds

I’m very much in a mellow mood this Monday, and thus my offerings have been fairly gentle today, like this new tune from Simen Mitlid. The Norwegian songwriter has been holed up for the last few years, quietly working on the follow-up to his 2017 release, Everything is the Same. What we have now is the same folk style he offered, only now it seems to be brimming with layers and textures; these make his quieted tunes feel like they expand inside your ears. Atmospheric touches build this blossoming pop euphoria within your head, still keeping things close to you as the light guitar strums pull your ear towards the speaker. Birds will be released later this year.

Another One From BIRDS

Less than a month ago I shared a tasty new rock n roll track from Brooklyn based BIRDS and I’m excited to bring you another new song from the group today. This new one called “Scatter” treats us yet again to some straight up rock music with a bit of fuzz and psych elements to boot. It’s time for you to get this band on your radar if you haven’t done so already.

BIRDS will release debut album Everything All At Once on August 18th via Greenway Records (pre-order).

More Mellow Music From Poor Moon

Towards the beginning of summer, Nate shared with you guys a sweet little tune called “Holiday” from recent Sub Pop acquisition Poor Moon.  Today we have another new song entitled “Birds” from the band’s upcoming self-titled debut LP out August 28th.  Nathan compared them to Jens Lekman last time, and I totally see that here and throughout the upcoming release from the band.  I also see a little bit of ATH favorite band Crayon Fields in there somewhere and you know we’ve got to love that.
