Blue Plutos Deliver Pop Goodness

0003445242_10A straight up, well written pop number can be a difficult thing to come by nowadays.  Sure some bands can do an okay job at it, but few seem to pull it off with the ease and perfection shown here by Blue Plutos.  Yes sir, “Shadow Chateau”, is what I like to call pop goodness, in all its dreamy and mesmerizing glory.  You can easily hear some similarities to Austin based hushed pop group Tiger Waves and you know ATH is going to get behind that.

Blue Plutos have a new EP entitled Dennett St. available for stream and purchase on bandcamp.

Rock With This Re-Issue from La Peste

lapesteSlow week? Kick off your afternoon with this really rad tune from La Peste.  The Boston band only released two official songs, and the folks over at Wharf Cat Records have decided they’re great enough to release back into the wild world; boy are they right.  It’s got the perfect amount of snarling guitars pushing the pace, and even including a nice catchy nod to the world that surrounded them, musically.  The reissue will hit the streets on April 19th, and if you’re like me, I have a feeling you’ll want to pick this little gem up.

SXSW 2014 Interview: Bent Shapes

bentOne of our favorite acts from 2013 aims to kill it again in 2014.  Boston’s Bent Shapes play energetic rock n’ roll, making their album Feels Weird (Father Daughter Records) an exceptionally rewarding listen. We haven’t been able to catch them on tour yet, so we’re excited that they’re making it all the way down to Austin this year. Catch up with the band by reading our interview below with Ben. Catchy New Jam from Kingsley Flood

20121220-kingsley-flood-600x-1356032432It’s good to diversify your tastes, so I have no qualms with posting this new jam from Kingsley Flood, one of the hottest acts around Boston at the moment.  There sound blends elements of raucous bar tunes with punk rock stomps, touched off nicely with bits of horns/violins/keyboard.  It’s an eclectic sound for sure, but one that’s definitely captured my attention.  You can hear this track, along with other equally mesmerizing tunes (like “The Fire Inside”) on the band’s new album, Battles. If they’re making songs as good as these, it won’t be long before they break out of Boston and move on to greener pastures.

New Garage Pop Jam From Silkies

Silkies are a band that apparently managed to get out of greedy Austin grip before moving recently to their new home in Boston, MA.  It’s a shame too, because had we known about them back in the day, we probably would have made a stronger push to make them feel the love in the ATX.  Oh well, the band still can rock a good beach themed number like the one below “Red”.  Enjoy it and let them know how much we miss them.

A new EP entitled Like One is coming on October 29th.
