Holy Shares New Single ft Boys

I’ve already thrown my support behind the new material from Holy, but now he’s called label mate Boys to add depth to his songwriting. For me, it’s a pretty brilliant pop tune, building these layers, much as was done on the most recent LP. This time, there’s a nice little textural balance that really encourages this sort of exultation, a sort of emphatic embrace of blossoming pop music. It calls to mind work by the likes of Radio Dept, though this has a fresher pop sensibility, sort of stripped of the dense claustrophobia. Apparently there’s a new LP on the works courtesy of PNKSLM coming at us in early 2020.

BOYS Drop Another Single

If you’re not looking forward to BOYS‘ debut Rest In Peace, then it’s probably best if you acquaint yourself now, as this record is destined to end up on every year end list. I like to think of this tune as the contemplative number on the record; it opens with slow vocals creeping over your emotions like the fog drifting into town. There’s a brief burst of emphatic pop explosions, before reverting back to the subdued feeling of wonder. We stay there until the track comes to a close, bursting with volume and force before the track fades away. The LP will drop on May 11th via PNKSLM.

Another Enchanting Boys Tune

Been listening to this new Boys track quite a bit this morning, continuing to find myself lost in the tune. Of course, I’m a sucker for anything opening with a piano as the backbone; you can hear the chords played in the background for the majority of the track, though they bounce up when necessary. While there’s a solemnity to the vocals of Nora Karlsson, there’s also this uplifting spirit that usually resides in the hearts of indiepop fans…most recently popularized by the likes of Alvvays (with a solid heart in Sweden’s pop). The song has this ornate quality to it that charms, presented so simply and openly.PNKSLM continues to release incredible LPs, and Rest In Peace should be no different when it drops on May 11th.

BOYS Drop New Single

BOYS flirt with indiepop on the start of their new single, slightly hanging those crips guitar chords out in the air. But, where many would push on into the realm, these lads turn the song into deeper textures. For starters, there’s a level of haze added to the vocals, perhaps moving towards dreamier pastures. But the core of the song has this driving guitar line that really pushes the natural tension of the song; it’s the driving force in the song, rushing the track to its finale. And then, without overstaying their welcome, the tune’s over. You love it, and you go on your way.

Hear a New BOYS Track

While we’re patiently awaiting the release of BOYS self-titled EP, they’re teasing us with this dreamy dosage of pop. The vocals come in breathy, almost gasping for air, which when combined with the guitar dancing around creates a stunning hook. The ante is upped when synths (maybe backing vocals…sounds more like backing vocals) falling from the skies of the song, creating a wall of sound that’s pretty memorable. I think the vibe of this track on the whole is worthy of your listening; I can’t get enough of it.

Pop Hit from BOYS

In need of a midweek dosage of pop? Well, you’re in luck because this new BOYS tune is doing precisely the trick. It has the hazy vibe to it, like the billowing of smoke across the sky as rays of light shine through. There’s a really cool turn just before the 2 minute mark that really makes the song rewarding. It’s continued proof that these lads have something going here, and they promise to release a new EP later this summer…with the song sure to be one of the stars!

Relaxed Pop from BOYS

BOYSI like a pop song that can hold my attention for over 4 minutes, like this new BOYS track. The relaxed vibe allows you fall deep into the confines of the song, washed with coats of dreamy notes from the guitars and keyboards. They’ve been high up on some lists for a few folks, and I think you’ll find room for them in your daily listening rotation. It’s a subtle beauty, quietly fading out on the back end. Look for their debut EP to land in your hands next month!

Summer Pop from BOYS

boysIt’s great when a relatively new band comes out swinging, as is the case with this single from BOYS. They have their debut headed our way later in the summer, but this single should give you reason to look into the four-piece, if you love pop music. It’s got just enough angular jangle in it, with breezy vocals riding atop the song’s mix. I think the holding of notes during the chorus is what really got me stuck on this track, and now I can’t get it out of my head. Maybe it’ll be the same for you today!

Salsa Punk From Crocodiles

Southern California Duo Crocodiles have been rather prolific since their 2008 origins, putting out three full length albums and a slew of EPs. “Crybaby Demon,” is the first single from their April-slated forthcoming fourth LP, Boys, which will be released via Zoo Music. And if you listen, it’s impossible to miss the influence of Mexico City, where they ventured to record the track and the album. This track is bomb, giving you both the fuzzy-lo garage guitars that you love from Crocodiles as well as this infectious beat underneath it all that makes it impossible to not dance to this song. Get behind this track and get ready for the new album; sounds like we’re in for a treat.
