New Villagerrr Tune

We’ve been covering Villagerrr for quite some time, so it’s great to see Mark’s star rising out there. Yesterday, the project announced Carousel, his new LP, and you can clearly hear the detailing of the tune. There’s delightful little bits of fuzzed out riffs, but they get buried beneath the surface, only popping up when necessary. Scott’s voice is careful, sort of sitting patiently in the middle of the mix, overlapping when the need to layer melody calls for it. There’s a really cool sincerity to the track too, something that feels like its locked into the sharing of EMOtions, whilst pushing the boundaries of our current indie rock trends. Carousel drops via Winspear on May 29th.

EZRAT Drops New Single

So, earlier in the year, EZRAT, the new project of Ezra Tenenbaum released Carousel; I’ll admit that I quietly let it slip by, despite being a big EZTV fan. So, I’m trying to make up for it by encouraging you all to listen to this great new single the band released this week. It’s a track filled with the steady charms that feel like the breeze is blowing through your hair, maxing out on the harmonies in the vocals as they pop like sugary bubbles floating in the sky. This new band is really something great to witness, so if you haven’t already purchased Carousel, go reach out to Bobo Integral…or, like me, hang about while we wait for the next batch of tunes!

New Bright Pop From Painted Palms

Painted Palms are a band that have played the opening role to numerous touring acts coming through town like Of Montreal and Starfucker, to name a few. To be honest, I’ve never paid much attention to the band until today when I found myself jamming along to this new song “Click”. It’s a bright and sunny pop song that could easily be compared to the aforementioned bands that they’ve toured with in Austin. However you want to describe or compare it, you can’t deny that you’re already bobbing your head with that catchy ass beat.

This tune is the B-side to the group’s new 7″ single Carousel which is available for shipping on March 22nd via Polyvinyl Records. You can also hear the A-side streaming via the Painted Palms bandcamp page.
