Last Week’s Jams (8.19 – 8.23)

Well folks, I’m back in the game full time, teaching, coaching and all that jazz. So, I didn’t hit my previous mark of nearly 30 songs in a week. But, we still had some really great stuff on the site, so it’s organized below in its usual playlist fashion. One of the best group’s in the game, Feeling Figures, bounced out with a rad new single, plus our old pal Caroline Says also announced her first LP in some years. We gave a shout out to some great records by Fake Fruit, Chime School, Hits and more (and yes, I missed Wut and the Softies). Oh, and new jams from UV-TV and High Water Marks closed out the week, so I guess you could say, it was a pretty good time!

Casual Male Back With Another Hit

Brooklyn based artist Tim Lapping has really been striking a chord with my lately with his new tunes under his recording moniker Casual Male. Dare I say, it might just be some of my favorite music from the entirety of summer 2024. Acting as a sort of close out for summer to me is this new tune about that familiar vehicle many of us used to learn our driving craft on “Hondo Civic.” This really plays into that late summer driving, very Americana feel of freedom, open roads, and a sense of total opportunity. Check it out below.

Casual Male will be releasing a self-titled, debut album on October 4th.

Last Week’s Jams (7.29 – 8.2)

Pretty sure our coverage crushed it this last week; I think there was one day where we covered ten songs in a single day! But, I’m about to end my summer break, so don’t expect that too much more. Alas, we had album shout outs for Blood, Male Gays, Aaberg, True Optimist and Teenage Tom Petties. Some of my favorite acts returned to the fold, like the Smashing Times and Pop FilterYoung Scum had a new jam, but it’s not streaming yet. Big hits from Chimers, The Gabys and the Softies kept us busy…and always nice to have a Chime School tune too! Enjoy the streams of last week’s jams!

Driving New Song From Casual Male

Tim Lappin is a Brooklyn based artist who has been recording tunes for the last few years under the moniker Casual Male. His tunes have a very New York, driving garage rock vibe to them with some hints of Americana and Bruce in there. This new track “Half Cut” sort of embodies all of those sounds as one has the sudden urge to get moving and maybe venture outdoors while enjoying the song. Check it out below.

Casual Male will be releasing a self-titled debut LP on October 4th.
