Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetIt’s that time again…the best part of the week: its end! As always, we’ve got the head’s up for y’all as to where you should spend you evenings (and afternoons) this weekend. I’ve broken it up by day, and our ATH approved choice is in bold, although any option on the list should surely be a good time. You can also check out some songs from our recommendations at the bottom of this post. Have a good weekend and get out and support your local clubs and bands.

Fresh Sunny Pop + Album Announcement From Cayucas

cayucasIt’s been a little bit of time since we’ve heard from L.A.’s Cayucas, but the good news is that they’re back with not only a sweet and spunky spring jam, but an announcement of a new album. Dancing At The Blue Lagoon is coming out June 23rd via Secretly Canadian, and judging from the sound of “Moony Eyed Walrus,” we’ll be doing a lot of dancing to this album. You get the glossy chorus of a summery pop song, but then the verses give focus to the playful guitar parts and you can also hear some orchestral elements that push the track beyond the ordinary. Jam with Cayucas.

FFF8 in Pictures – Sunday Edition

King KhanSlow rolling is now done, though I think we may put up a PYAITK version of FFF8 coverage. FFF9 info is pending and you can recommend artists to the festival honchos.

But for now, you get to peep a ton of bad ass festival pics from a couple Sundays back. This edition features Cayucas, The Men, XXYYXX, Dennis McCoy, PLG, Matt Hoffman, Washed Out, Dismemberment Plan, Deltron 3030, MGMT, Bonobo, Slayer and King Khan with just enough crowd shots that you could be a star!

Another New Jam from Cayucas

It seems that we’re in for a whole lot of infectious pop if things continue to go as planned for Cayucas.  They are releasing their debut 7″ for Secretly Canadian this month, and this tune is another that wears a bright sunny influence.  It’s almost got a tropicalia feel to it, which definitely is something that I enjoy.  If you listen closely you can hear the warm backing vocals just barely pushing through, creating an effect that only strengthens the relaxed feel of this song.  I’ll have no problem playing this number over and over again.

Sunny Pop from Cayucas

We love pretty much everything that’s being put out by Secretly Canadian, and this new release from Cayucas is surely going to be another hit we’ll adore for some time.  The recent signing has an upcoming 7″ featuring two tracks to give us all an introduction to the band.  This first taste is just what you’d expect a California pop band to construct, full of vibrant energy and tasty melodies.  It sort of sounds like the meeting ground between The Drums and Generationals, both bands we fawn over, so how could we, and you, not love this?
